great work on all of these! I've got to echo Razor on the DAK leg source question. I've been trying to work out some shorts for SAS custom figures and the ones you've done here look great. Are the bare leg sections modified arm sections from a GI Joe or Indy figure?

Very Nice! I like both the DAK and the Calvary Soldier, nice concept.
Did you use the IJ UGHA Warrior legs for the DAK?
I have been thinking he may be good for bare skin parts!

Thanks for the feedback guys.

The Short Pants are from the Indiana Crystal Skull Warrior's lower legs and the Top portion is from Jones Kahkis. I'll put together a how to pictorial when, I make the next one.

Have followed your customs since back in March when you made your first post. Absolutely great work! But, you can now stop ending every post with "let me know what you think". We will let you know.

Fritzkrieg,
Need to know how you removed the leg off your UGHA warrior and attached it to the Indy leg.
Plus, what exactly did you do for the feet?
Thanks,
Razor

DAK MG Gunner with Short Pants Tutorial

Post by Fritzkrieg » Wed Jan 07, 2009 2:42 pm

I finally got around to putting together a little tutorial on my DAK Short Pants Recipe. Feel free to put your spin on it.
Warning Only adults should try this.

Step one, gather up your fodder.

Image

The feet are from an Indy Fig. and the gloves are BBI.

Step two, using the "Boil & Pop" method, disasemble your fodder figs and toss the extra parts bank in your fodder bank.
Image

Step three, snip the plastic pegs off of your FOV boots.
Image

Step four, using a router bit, hollow out the FOV boot cuff.
Image

Step five, snip the boot cuff off of the FOV boot. You can discard the boot, since we only need the cuff.
Image

Step six, the Ugha Warrior's shins are little long, so clip the bottoms off about 1 1/2 mm.
Image

Step seven, ladies, I've found the cure for those unsightly kankles. Using a grinding bit, trim down the bottom of your Ugha Warrior's shins.
Image

Step eight, slide the boot cuffs over the bottom of the Ugha Warriors shins and drill a hole (slightly smaller than the pegs on the Indy shoes) up into the shin.
Image

Step nine, using the "Boil & Pop" method, assemble the lower torso.
Image

Step ten, the peg hole in the FOV fig, must be widened. Use your router bit to do so. Be sure to make the hole slightly smaller than the Dr. Jones Torso peg.
Image

Step eleven, using the "Boil & Pop" method, assemble the rest of your parts.
Image

Step 12, accessorize and paint!

DAK German "Skins"

Post by Fritzkrieg » Sun Jan 18, 2009 1:34 pm

I've been looking through a lot of old Ref. Photos from the North Africa theater. I noticed a lot of the German and British soldiers spent a great deal of time striped to the waist, I guess for relief from the heat. Here is my interpretaion, of a DAK soldier in his "Skins" uniform. LMK what you think.

Those look excellent fritzkrieg.
where did you get the bare torso? I tried to use an ugha warrior
for a bare chested marine but its a little too skinny and hard to
carve down all those necklace things :x

Just curious where the nude torso came from Fritz, that's good fodder for bare-chested customs but I don't recognize it at all. Great looking figures, and you've probably got the more accurate DAK shelf going... The rest of us have the guys with leggings, and where nobody apparantly needed shorts!

Great work, love the use of Indy fodder.
