Tamiya 1/16 Panther G Finished

Post by GooglyDoogly » Fri Dec 05, 2008 2:20 pm

Finally had some time to finish this kitty. All I need to do is buy the metal tracks. But for now, the default tracks is good enough. :D

Weathering was done minimally. I wanted to portray a tank that's been on the fiel and has seen some action for at least a couple of months, not a tank that looks like it's been in the junkyard for 20 years. I used photos of Abrams tanks during OIF to see just what tanks look like after a month or so of combat.

Finished painting the tools and whatnot.

And the tank commander figure. The head is the former 1/16 FOV Pieper that I repainted, and the body is from Verlinden. Also detailed the turret quite a bit, since Tamiya's are sorely lacking in small details.

Outstanding job, especially the tank commander figure. 8) Truly lifelike expression on Peiper's face. Did you detail even the 'totenkopf'?

Thanks guys for the compliments. :) I didn't bother detailing the death's head rune, because the molding looks good enough at the moment. Although I have a PE part I could use to make it more accurate if I try to do any modding on this model or figure in the future.

Looks so real.

I like how the paint looks chipped on the edges with the metal showing slight corrosion.
This is how a bulldozer or other heavy machinery looks after a month or so of work in the field.

Nice.
