1:18 Panzer IV repaint
Hi guys,
here is my latest repaint. it's a Panzer IV from the 10th ss division Hohenstauffen that escaped from the Falaise pocket and spotted in the Mons area, Belgium, early september 1944.
As you can see, it's an old warrior.

Phil this Panzer IV looks Great!!!! Paint scheme is very well done and the Zimmerit just out standing! Cool Looking Tank!
Is the Zimmerit sheet plastic that can be cut or putty.
The hand painted turret numbers make the tank look very realistic. I've seen some of your other work and this is just fantastic!!!!!
Nice Work Phil! Normandy.

I intend to leave my tanks in the back yard for a year so I can get the same look.

Hello guys,
first thank you very much for all your positive comments. I realy appreciate
Now for the details...
I have used Humbrol enamel paint n° 83 (yellow base), n° 102 for the green stripes and n° 113 for brown stripes. A mix of matt white and matt black has been used for chipped metal. Antirust red primer has been used where zimmerit is gone. The model also receive different color filter from brown to black.
Zimmerit is the one aviable for Heng Long Tiger. I cut it to fit the Panzer IV and it's looking good.
I used a Badger 150 for the paint. Easy to use and clean.
Mud is a mix of sand, white glue and color pigments from CMK.
I also brush pigments on Panzer IV surfaces.
I still have to made 3 side armor plates.
Now for the history...
my ex-neigbourgh told me about a tank he saw early september 1944. Here is his description : I saw a german tank coming from the Avenue de France and entering the boulevard. The tank was painted in sand with brown and green stripes and 3 plates were hanging on the side hull. One on the right and two on the left. Strangely, none of them had the same color sheme. Only the armor plate around the turret was clean. Also, numbers painted on it were funny as it seemed to me that it was a child job. Very crude and from different size. Numbers 512 were in red with a white outline. On the front hull was painted a sword and a 'H' letter. There was also a strange material applicated on it and where it was gone, a red paint was clearly visible even if the tank was covered with dust and dry mud.
All in all, this tank was in a badly shape. He stopped on the Place de France and 5 soldier jumped from it then the tank left the Place. The five soldier then entered the city.
My ex-neigbourgh was in the Belgian resistance. He passed away some years ago.
So this is the story of this tank. I tried to do it as it has been described to me.
