Tunisia Tiger update

Post by flpickupman » Tue Nov 20, 2007 3:16 pm

I cleaned off the top of the turret and filled in the holes with Miliput. I also pulled the escape hatch off and am in the process of filling that hole as well. I'd like to go on record that I reeeeeally dislike Tamyia putty. This stuff shrinks more than a cotton shirt in the dryer. :x

* 8) ->>>-----> Try using Squadron Putty.

* I've had the same "green" tube for over 30-years now , and it still works just fine.

... amazingly it has not dried up inside the tube after all this time * :shock: * Good stuff ! * 8)

Use car bondo. It is cheap and sands well and sets up in about 10 mins.. A little stinky though.

I use the same stuff Pickelhaube uses,car bondo,it sands very well and will not pop out,but like MG-42 says squadron putty is great for pin holes and minor stuff. :wink:

Filing Holes

Post by Folkwulfe » Wed Nov 21, 2007 4:00 pm

Like they said....use Bondo. It's cheap, easy to work with, sets up fast and sands smooth with fine wet/dry sandpaper. If you're worried about filling a large hole and having it pop out....use thin card stock styrene over the unseen backside of the hole. It gives the Bondo something to nestle up against and adhere to. It also helps cut down on the shrinking problem you've already run into.

Okey doke. Bondo it is. The one thing I'll give the Tamiya putty credit for is that adhesion is no problem. This stuff sticks to everything. :lol:

As for backing card, that's the first thing that gets installed. 8)
