Custom 1/32 Panzer III ausf. G

Post by PanzerArm » Sun Jul 31, 2011 11:58 pm

Hey guys, I've been sick the last couple days, but I was able to snap a few pics of the latest piece that I've completed. It is a late Panzer III ausf. G. I modified your run of the mill 21st Century Panzer III chassis and added the following:

-New mantlet and gun (short L/42 50mm)
-New driver's vision port
-Turret ventilator (on top turret)
-Bolt on armor on front of hull and front superstructure
-Armored cooling vents for final drives
-Smoke candle rack (in the back)
-Armored covers for engine deck vents (also not pictured)
-Customized turret bin

Sorry for the quality of the pics, I don't have the best camera...

And until I can get all my DAK armor outside (once I'm feeling better), I plan on setting quite a little DAK kampfgruppe dio. Until then, here's a new dispay vignette I set up since I've been stuck inside all weekend.

Thank you for the comments guys. I am trying do as much 1/32 work as possible lately but I have been feeling a bit under the weather. I have some more Afrika Korps stuff in the works, mostly reconnaissance stuff, and then a Type 82E VW. Right now my focus is that JS-2. Illness permitting I would like to at least get the base coat and decals on by the end of this week. And NHoggard, I hear that about us needing some 1/32 Russian armor. Keep you eyes on the board over the next few weeks as I anticipate maybe starting some other Russian beasties like the ISU-152.

Jim, I am still hoping to get that big dio outside done. As it stands now here is what I plan on having in the outdoor DAK kampfgruppe (bold denotes in-progress vehicles):

-1/32 Tiger I, s.pz.abt. 501
-1/32 Panzer III ausf N, s.pz.abt. 501
-1/32 sdkfz 233, 33rd Aufklarung abt.
-1/32 sdkfz 231, 33rd Aufklarung abt.
-1/32 sdkfz 222, 33rd Aufklarung abt.
-1/32 sdkfz 232, 33rd Aufklarung abt.
-1/32 sdkfz 263, 78th Pz. Nachrichten Abteilung
-1/32 sdkfz 250/3 "GREIF", Rommel's Panzer Army Afrika befehls staffel zug
-1/32 sdkfz 139 Marder III, 33rd Panzerjager abt.
-1/32 sdfkz 250, Shutzen Rgmt 115, 15th Pz Div
-1/32 Panzer III ausf G, 21st Pz Div, Pz Rgmt 5, I abt., 2nd Kompanie
-1/32 Panzer III ausf L, 15th Pz Div, Pz Rgmt 8, I abt., 1st Kompanie
-1/32 Panzer IV ausf. D, 15th Pz Div, Pz Rgmt 8, I abt., 4th Kompanie
-1/32 Panzer IV ausf. F2, 15th Pz Div, Pz Rgmt 8, II abt., 8th Kompanie
-1/32 sdkfz 251 ausf. C , Shutzen Rgmt 115, 15th Pz Div
-1/32 sdkfz 7 mit PAK 40, 39th Panzerjager abt.
-1/32 Type 82E
-1/32 Captured Humber staff car.

I might also include some stock vehicles like 21st's early DAK PAnzer III and FOV's dark yellow kubelwagen and 88 just because they could pass as other DAK vehicles.
