model kits

Post by digger » Fri Jan 12, 2007 10:35 am

Why do people build models? They like to build, paint, and pick their schemes. There are still plenty of model builders out there who not only don't collect pre-built, but resent it. These kits may not make sense to us as pre-built addicts, but they make business sense. They are very cheap, relatively accurate, and introduce kit builders to the 21C brand. All makes good sense if you think about it.

sort of like seeing the other company's sells figures and moving in to 1 take a share - and 2 (like you said) introduce them to the 21st Century world and finally to XD

Why wouldn't 21c do them?... It makes good sense to me to use the tooling that you have to accomplish several things all at once.

1. People who build kits and do modeling have an opportunity to get cheap 1:32 scale models.

2. It will allow more exposure to 21 products and perhaps soem modelers will begin to purchase finished products.

3. It gives a few of us collectors something to do if we are in-between releases or if we want a custom scheme of our own, or round out a collection. The Decal Sheet allow for 1-2 markings options that are not offered in the finished product line.

The kits aren't hurting our collector hobby so I say go for it.

G'day All

I think that one of my earliest posts on the original GPXD forum was to suggest that the 1/18th scale items should be available in a kit form for customises.

I only hope the 1/32 scale kit hit the mainstream model/hobby or even major retailer shelves in Australia and that their success may make my 1/18th kit suggestion become a reality.

Well, I guess an enterprising ebayer can buy a kit, assemble it unpainted, put it in an empty box belonging to that type of aircraft, claim it is a rare "prototype," and sell it

I venture to bet that some bidder(s) will unknowningly think that it is some sort of prototype and bid on it.

You 32X guys should do each other a favor and use the Checklist thread or the like to keep each other current. I know there are so darn many of these things it is practically impossible.. :P

TKO

As usual here I am to ask you questions LOL.

1-Will the 1/32 phantom have retractable landing gear?(wait...I think I may have actually predicted this plane! LOL...I think I did in one of my older threads...either way I did predict 1/32 big jets). Please say YES!

2-What working/moving features will the F-4 share with its big brother?>

3-Importantly, how much will these be?

4-When will these hit stores? Will they hit before the big brother? It is smaller and easier to tool....

5-This can't be the other big modern fighter for that scale. Obviously a bigger box is needed for this and I am certain a company wouldn't have a box especially designed if no other big planes were to fit in it. So...what are the other big jets in this line?
Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:

F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

Hi TKO,

When's the ETA for the next wave of Bf-109Gs? Hope to see the 'Seemann' 109 offered in this scale as well.

Late Breaking News on the 21st Web site!!!!!!!!!! They are now producing 1/32nd scale airplane models kits, unsealed and untaped.

Oops, did our forum scoop this news months earlier than 21st too?

I might have to remind him that the B-25 and MiG-21 have not been scooped by anyone.
It's a good thing we are all friends here or one might think he was out for blood!

Anyway- There will be another new piece of news in 1:32 scale that I can assure will also not be scooped by anyone. Keep an eye out in the next week or so. 8)

TKO, are you talking about 21st's B-17 in 1:32? I am so excited about this release!

I am really stocked! Great news!!!! I know I will be in line for one or two! :D

Question: will it come with a full crew in the aircrat? Will we be able to take them out? or will they be fixed?

Cheers,
Jason

A B-17 in 1:32 is an automatic best seller. I can't believe it's taken this long to get one out there.

Congrats and a big thanks to 21st for taken on this bad boy!!!!

Yeah I think Jason is pulling your legs!

I don't know if it just a guess, a rumor, or perhaps even a later release. But the announcement for the NEXT 1:32 scale is not a B-17. Might not even be a plane!

Relax though, the next item is cool and as I said before... It will NOT be scooped by anyone. AREA-21 will be the first place to see this new release in the next few weeks. I am just waiting on pictures is all! :D

144 scale

Post by EnemyAce » Tue Mar 20, 2007 3:45 pm

Hey TKO, I just wanted to chip in on how much I'm loving the 144 scale stuff. The birds are fantastic, and I keep finding myself buying more and more of the armor pieces.

Please pass on my wanted list in 144 armor:

Stuart
M3 halftrack
M10 tank destroyer
Pershing

German 250 recon halftrack
Opel truck/halftrack

Churchill
Cromwell

T-34
Su-76/85/100

Any arty/anti-tank guns

Any figs

Any Armored Cars
