All of us have been wondering if WM has pulled the plug on XD. Nothing in the stores and no idea if there is anything in the pipeline. Can you play rumor control for us?

Thanks

TKO,

Could you find out if any of these aircraft announced last Feb/Mar are still a go or not? B-25, Mig-21, F-4. Dont need specifics, just a yes or no would at least let us know that we aren't waiting for nothing.

Thanks!

Hello TKO

I haven't taken the time to read all of the pages of this post, so I hope that I am not asking a question that has been answered previously. Has there ever been any talk about doing a group buy from the site members for an exclusive paint scheme on a 1/18 plane?

I think that would be a good idea (if we could agree on a plane and scheme) Several Car clubs and Diecast car sites have exclusives made as a fund raiser to support their sites

Hello TKO when will the 88 and the King Tiger be here?

The King Tiger is pretty close. I know this for a fact because I heard that the Box art was being finished in the next couple weeks. I have learned in the past that typically this signals the start of the final mass production. So add a month from today for production and a few lost days here and there.

Then add another 3-4 weeks for shippment and customs and distribution. That would put us in Late March or April. The 88 (I think is really close as well) These might be built and ship around the same time as the King Tiger.

More jeeps... Man! I hope so! I myself would like to see the jeeps again in summer paint not winter stuff. I would also REALLY like to see an all new Kubel. That is one piece that has been SORELY missed by almost everyone I think. Imagine if Roy were to do one all new! Also given Roy's history of making the acurate variants I think it would not be much of a stretch of the imagination to see him make DAK versions as well with sand tires. -How sweet would that be now that we have DAK figures.

An exclusive paint scheme on an XD plane for Small Scale or perhaps even AREA-21?... I have wanted to do this for years! I pushed for it very hard the first year that I was put in charge of AREA-21. I got shot down but it came back in the form of the 4 for Victory contest. The scheme was piggy backed onto OLD CROW so that some of the markings could be used at the same time to help manage a short run behind OLD CROW. It was during a time of alot of new development on main line products and it took alot of extra effort to manage all the parts needed to document and make each plane uniquely special. The result was and remains THE most collectible single plane in the history of 1:18 military collectibles. GREAT for the fans who invested heavily into the program, but it might have overcomplicted the ability to see another production like it again in the future. So perhaps one day something might come down the road as an AREA-21 exclusive. But I think it may be a figure rather than a large plane. -that said:

A new contest was proposed and approved by 21c Management early last month. It's a VERY cool contest that is going to be REALLY easy to enter and with NO future costs associated. The trick is the timing as it involves new products that are in a tooling phase as we speak. So without being a tease... I can say that I think this next contest will be really fun and for the lucky few REALLY rewarding! -more to come on this as the timing works itself out!

TKO211:

Since there's a new repaint of the Panther, what about a repaint of the Sherman?
Based on SSHQ posts, there's a big demand for FOV's inferior 1/18 Sherman. I'd love to see 21st Century re-release its 1/18 Sherman.

TKO, I noticed you're out there on the other threads, but could you take a minute and tackle these here:

(1) What ever happened to the B-25?

(2) It's been over three years since a new P-47 release and we've seen several P-51's, P-40's and P-38's in the mean time. Is the 1:18 P-47 a dead product line?

(3) In the collector marketplace today, arguably the one truly significant WWII Allied fighter that does not exist in 1:18 is the Wildcat. Some might point to the P-39, but in terms of impact on the outcome of the war, the Wildcat is clearly more significant. Granted, it's a pretty plain plane in terms of markings, and the landing gear is an engineer's nightmare, but doesn't the historical significance of an airplane have something to do with the decision to invest in making one?

Thanks for your comments!

Hi TKO, although prime 1/18 ww11 mostly German armour collector, in fustration of nothing to purchase from 21st, I relented and purchased possibly one of my favourite tanks being a Jagdpanther in cold steel 1/32 series. With close inspection side by side with the 1/18 Panther, I determined they are very similar in the lower half except the exhaust system. There would be very little tooling required to produce a Jagdpanther in 1/18 and as 21ST are re-visiting the Panther this year in a re-paint, could you suggest to Roy that they also look at this possibility, as once the hype is over with the KT and 88, we have nothing to look forward in the pipeline for 2008. I can guarantee sales would boom for their first tank destroyer in 1/18. Please ask on the basis nothing ventured, nothing gained. I currently have over 100 vehicles in 1/18 from 21ST, 40 halftracks alone.
