I think it's the fact that there is very little 1/18 out there for sale that keeps people from joining these forums. Many people who did collect got out of it. People don't generally join forums for products they can't get.

And speaking of products people can no longer get, we are nearing the 10th anniversary of 21c’s collapse...

While some of the best and most ambitious 1/18 releases were to follow their demise (think the Merit SBD, the JSI F-14, the Merit Harrier, etc.) it was really when 21c went under that our collecting hobby went downhill :?

It's kind of crazy to think it has been so long now.

As much as I miss it, though, switching to kits has increased my collection 20x in size. It'll take at least a decade to build them all is the disadvantage.

I still enjoy my collection. Every day I look at my shop walls and smile. I still find some 21st stuff from time to time at flea markets and shops.

I'm still finding 21st XD and 32X at model shows, wonder if TKO211 still collects?
And what ever happened to the 1:18 King Tiger? :?

I only said so because when you are on a forum and old/dead threads get zombified it is very annoying

Within the last year or so, I started my collection of 1/18. I am trying to pick up what I can when I can. I joined this board and have been going over different Board areas to glean information that will be of help in Hints, Tips, etc., so that I don't have to re-invent the wheel, so to speak.I have found valuable information, even though some of the old posts links to photos do not work after several years. I understand why that is, and understand that.
I used to collect 1/6th, but, due to Congestive Heart Failure and a couple of heart attacks, I can no longer work on heavy pieces like 1/6th any longer. 1/18 is a lot easier for me to work on, etc. I am using a lot of Shapeways products, to "kit out" my figures )Helmets, weapons,
and a trailer to use in a diorama. I am buying products from Pickle as soon as I get the funds together for them such as the M4-A1, and other things to add to my collection. This keeps me busy. I know that I am late to this show, but I am just as excited about 1/18 as you all are.
Thanks for having me here. I appreciate you all!

Hi Mutt71, 1:18 has become a little more difficult to find in recent years. If you check the buy sell and trade
section of the site, you can find some nice items (vehicles and figures) at reasonable prices. Sometimes
on ebay.
The Marauder Task Force WWII figures look promising too.

Pickel and Grunt1 / Battleground Toys are both helping keep 1:18 going. Pizzaguy is doing a great job at it
and Aracula as well.

Good luck collecting and we appreciate you being here!!
Normandy.

Thank you Normandy. I have one order from PH incoming when he has it ready. I have Grunt1's M-100 trailer that I am painting now and will be placing another order from PH, when I get my next check. I will certainly check out the others that you mentioned and see what they offer of interest to me. I am always looking in the Buy, Sell, Trade section, to see what is being made available. Thank you again,
