Update: I got the post from the YoJoe forums.

From Toy Soldiers of San Diego's website's coming attractions section:

"21st Century has advised us that they will be releasing new products this spring. We do not know as yet what these might be, other than the WWII U.S. artillerymen sets that we have pictured here. As soon as we know more we will post it here."

http://www.sdsoldiers.com/coming_attractions.htm

That doesn't sound like they're going out of business to me. TSSD's site is all about 1/32nd scaled items, so there probably won't be any news on new 1/18th scale stuff there. It any case, I hope they'll release something like a Maus tank. I'd like one of those with rolling tracks in 1/32nd scale.

Someone living in the area should drive over to 21st HQ and see what's happening. Maybe disguise yourself as a bottled water delivery....or someone from the bank coming to foreclose.

Where did you hear this - a reputable source? The only reason I would think bbi would want those is to prevent another company from using them.

well, not too sound cryptic but I don't feel comepletely comfortable revealing the person because I don't know if they would want me too and I am not completely sure they were not just repeating a rumor. The person does work in the industry and is reputable, but it was a casual conversation were I don't think they would want to be named as a reference on the subject.

I know how this forum can get but,

The conversation went something like this

me: "its a shame with 21st C closing down, they had just started cranking out some interesting stuff like the open top afv's and the hetzer, not to mention their older tanks like the brummbar and panzer IV chassis. I sure hope someone buys those molds and either improves on or at least keeps the lineup alive."

Mr. X "Well I understand that BBI bought up a bunch of them."

END

Now "I understand" could mean hearsay or fact
and "A Bunch" could mean 5 to howmanyever molds or an actual "bunch"

So I don't feel comfortable pointing questions toward this person if they are just talking casually with me. If I talk to them and they say they don't give a flip or its common knowledge then I will . But honestly, either they did or they didn't.

I would ask BBI

Website does not load anymore. Anyone else notice this?

Looks like the site may have been decommissioned.

"Uh...had a slight weapons malfunction. But, uh, everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?"

TKO, I know I've been kicking this thing around for a year or two maybe three....... Do you have any Intel on the 21st King Tiger?
Was it ever in production? or "On the Water" about to hit U.S. shores? or did berney madeoff take off with all the funds for this project? :P
From the pics I'd seen this would have been a great looking piece.

It was about a month before Roy left that I last heard about the King Tiger. From what I remembered the KT was pretty much done and ready for full production. I believe that the tooling was made for it and I think that a production sample was made from it? Not 100% certain on that.

I do know that I personally held in my hand a nearly finished prototype while standing in Roy's office one afternoon on a business trip.

I believe the plan was to release the KT right after the 88. It was about that time that funding pretty much ran out and I think that was the death blow to the KT. It was very far along! I think there is a good chance we will still see the molds used and produced by someone else.

That is some promising news about the KT. It would be a shame to go so far along in the process and not see the product finalized.
