Admiral Toys Information Q&A (Jason)
Hi Jason,
Thanks for the great news on the upcoming Panzer III M & H, M10 Tank Destroyer, and Crusader armor! And I am very very eagerly waiting for my Panzer III Ls to hit the beaches! I agree with Mr Football's comments that some 1/72 metal Tigers would make collectors (and me) very happy. And could you consider Panzer IVs and Panthers, too!
Thanks,
Tim

That prototype looks great. It appears to have opening cannon compartment doors. Can we expect to see detailed cannons and ammo canisters on this beauty?
Please, please let it be so!!!
Also, where are the pictures of the Zero posted that you refered to when you said the Me-262 pics were taken on the same table at the same time?

TEAMSKI WROTE:I guess I can do up an aerial diorama of Nowotny getting shot down by a P-47 while in the landing pattern.....
Jeez Team, Didn't Nowotny explode on impact...they found like his Hand and his Knights cross?
Anywho, Great pics I've been considering not collecting anymore but in light of this I'm in for one more at least. Apparently there's a new Sheriff in town and his name is Admiral Toys! Keep up the great work...

What research do you have that it was a P-47? There is confusion as to what/who actually shot him down. I've found a claim that Lt. RW. Stevens of the 364 FG downed him, and that 1st Lt Edward “Buddy” Haydon of the 357th FG and Capt Ernest “Feeb” Fiebelkorn of the 20th FG shared the kill. All three of those FG's were flying P-51's at the time of Noworny's death.Teamski wrote:WOW!!!! Looking great! Thanks for the sneak preview!!

I've only been researching for a few hours, but this is all I've found so far.
I'd like to get two of the 262's and recreate Urban Drew downing them both just after take-off. I'm already working on Drew's "Detroit Miss" from a BBI P-51D. It has always been my favorite Mustang.

I read the same thing. It's not known for sure what happened to him. What I've seen says that he downed a P-51 while returning to the base and radioed the kill and the last transmission was that he was on fire. I've also read he had a damaged engine and was flying with only one when he was shot down. Wittnesses on the ground only saw the crash not any other fighters shooting at the 262.boyx30 wrote:Jeez Team, Didn't Nowotny explode on impact...they found like his Hand and his Knights cross?
He sure was a stud on the Eastern front, but didn't last long on the Western front. Only 3 kills in the Me-262 against the USAAF vs. 255 against the Russians in Bf-109's and FW-190's.
There was an article on Nowotny in Flypast. It remember saying that a rookie P-47 pilot took him out while he was on approach. You never know who's right sometimes.thetatau87 wrote:What research do you have that it was a P-47? There is confusion as to what/who actually shot him down. I've found a claim that Lt. RW. For me the Me-262 is the most exciting 1/18 release yet. I hope that it is successful enough that we see some variants like a 2 seat night fighter later on. While I’m dreaming, how about an Me-163 Komet?
I was looking through the only two books I have on the 262 and I have a question about the paint scheme that is shown for White 8. Osprey Aircraft of the Aces #17 German Jet Aces of World War 2, states that:
"Although wearing a mid-fuselage yellow band, the distinctive camouflage scheme of 'White 8' - solid fuselage colors coupled with a sharply defined tail mottle - was characteristic of aircraft newly delivered to the short-lived Kommando Nowotny..."
The color plate that goes along with the text clearly shows the upper fuselage as solid dark green with the typical grey underside. However, the next plate shows 'White 1', also of Kommando Nowotny with a scheme more like the one you have posted, though both camo colors are definately green. This is not to say that either is right or wrong, I was just curious if you were aware of the discrepancy?

White "8" Nowotny
For those who are interested here is an interesting site:

FW-190
Hey, the "Red 3" Focke-Wulfe would also be a perfect match for the ME-262. As I recall, the FW's with the red undersides were specifically for protecting the jets as they landed or departed their airfields.
Of course, a P-47 or P-51 thrown in the mix would make for a great diorama possibility!

Jason,
I'm really looking forward to the 1/72 Panzer III as well as the other 1/72 tank releases recently listed on your site. Thanks for making something that no one else has, it's rather refreshing.
I plan on buying several of each 1/72 tank release and am very glad you're sticking with armor not yet available in 1/72 diecast. Too many people make large German tanks and ignore the ones that were made in higher numbers. I think we've seen enough Tiger tanks in this scale for a while.
You're on the right track and I'm looking forward to seeing the Panzer III when it's finally available.
