If I may get away from the Toy Fair for a moment. I am hearing things in the 1/6 world about a 1/6 Sherman 21C is working on.
It's suposed to be beyond the working prototype stage. Can you tell us if it could be true or just wishful thinking.
If they are looking into it and it is as good as the Stuart, you have a hit on your hands before it ever gets on shelves, no matter what the price. A WW2 Sherman has a bigger draw than the modern stuff.

A 1/6th sherman, wow that would be cool. Im still waiting on the 1/6th Panzer III that was announced at the Toy fair several years ago. And as far as some said that 1/6th is dead is full of balonie! Look at all the other compabnys cranking out 1/6th. Dont forget 1/6th is 21st Century's roots.

TKO,
I know this is thinking WAY WAY ahead (Toy Fair is just finishing), but is 21C planning on any special offers at San Diego ComicCon this year? I'm actually thinking this year I may go out there, and if 21C is planning on selling stuff there, that definitely would sway me.
And I know we won't get any info as to what they would sell this soon, but if that's when the MIG-15 is released, along with the Platoon figures, I am totally there!!!!!!!

Hey tko I cant figure it out. In the pics you have posted from the toy fair I saw that the new tool Mustang was in its box but yet it was postponed until this coming March. Whats the deal? Is there production delays again? Same goes for the Avenger. The pics of it show that it looks to be pretty much done so why all the delays? Sorry tko to sound frusterated but these delays are becoming troublesome especially when you see the what looks to be finished product sitting on a display counter.
Anyway hope your having fun in all that snow!

??? I am not exactly sure why the P-51 is being reported as delayed? IT might be? But I am scratching my head. The ones I saw at Toy Fair are indeed in boxes. All printed up and wire tied! I even tried to get 21st to let one come home with me being that they were so close to being ready to go to market. To be honest I would have to look into it to be sure. Maybe they have been pushed back from Feb. 28th to March 1st?
But in the meantime let me do this! I will promise to post up the detailed shots I took of "Flying Undertaker" tomorrow afternoon on AREA-21. I got to play with one for about 30 minutes during the show. The more I looked at it the more I loved it! The lines are sooo perfect! The nose and canopy are by far the best! The moving surfaces are cool too. Even the gear doors are look nice. This mold is very cool!

Great pics tko. It looks as though 21st has produced a nice looking Mustang thats going to be a great seller for them. But after studying the photos I'm gonna have to pass, sigh.
To me it dont differ to much from the BBI Mustang except for a few different features here and there. But like I said its a winner no doubt about it and its going to be a great collectors peice. That being said I guess my sights are now set on the Avenger which I know is going to be a major hit for us guys.

Toy Show photos
Great new detail photos of the Avengers at the Toy Show!
Both the pilot and the turret crewman look like new versions! They both look great! The pilot head is the same as the Corsair pilot, but the body is different. The crewman looks entirely different than anything I've seen so far.
Good call, anyway... sure wouldn't see a pilot and his crew flying around in the north Atlantic with his sleeves rolled up
Looking forward to the TBM!

Hey tko. I got the Bunker Hill Corsair last night, put it together and was very impressed. With this release 21st rocks! Now I only wonder how good their Avenger and P-51 releases will be? I know I said I would pass on their P-51 BUT now I dont know.

I totally know the feeling on the Bunker Hill! I saw that in person and was shocked by how pretty the paint was in person. It is the best looking Corsair scheme 21st has done!
The P-51D is going to "get to you" when you see it in person. The more I looked at it the more I liked it! Obviously it is lightyears ahead of the now decade old mold!... yeah thats right the old P-51D is about 9 years old from the day the project started!
It is a real measuring of how far the hobby and 21st has come with detail and features!
Do me a favor MM- just get one of the new P-51D's and see if it grows on you like it did for me. I am curious what others will think for themselves once they are out! -better be soon! I have wanted this plane remade for several years now!

Ok tko I'll do you a favor and get the 21st Mustang when it comes out. The only question is is what one will I get? Petie The 2nd or Ridge Runner? I'm thinking about getting Petie because I like the blue nose paint scheme and the Little Bastard logo. With the Bunker Hill Corsair release 21st sold me on getting their new tool Mustang so all doubts about getting the Mustang is gone for me, I must and will have one. The only problem I have with 21st is their Mustang release schedual. I hope and pray we see them either at the end of the month or early March at the latest.

Question
I thought the mold that 21C used for the Bunker Hill was the same one used for the Kepford. What are the airframe differences between the two, if any?

Tko, is it possible this persone got to take home a TF sample? (If so I am a little upset about not going to the show and begging for stuff) or could it be these have hit WM? Thanks!

Corsair versions
Eddie:
About your question about the Kepford and Bunker Hill Corsairs, yes they and all 21C Corsairs come from the same mold. There was no airframe difference between the two versions. The mold represents the F4U-1A version. This is the correct version for the Kepford and Boyington Corsairs. The Bunker Hill birds were the F4U-1D versions. The only real external differences would be the addition of rockets and most (not all) would've been missing the cross braces on the canopy, otherwise the airframes were identical. There were other internal changes which don't show externally.
For example, from the 21C line: The Checkernose (VMF-312) Corsair was an F4U-1D with rocket mounts. The Brit Corsair was the F4U-1A version, but would've had clipped wingtips to fit on the British carrier hanger decks. The Korean bird would've been a F4U-5 (which I now understand would entail a totally new fuselage mold in addition to a 4-blade prop)
Slightly off thread, but related: The BBI Corsair represents an early F4U-1D with rockets but still having the earlier braced canopy. (This mold would be PERFECT for a late war Marine or Navy: like the VMF-312 or a Bunker Hill birds) One of the amazing details of the BBI bird is the inclusion of the window under the pilot from the F4U-1 and early -1A versions (gone by later -1A and -1D's)
21C has released a bunch of repaints on one mold representing the F4U-1A, but doing a pretty good job of it. Now BBI has the -1D version, but hasn't matched a historically appropriate paint scheme with this great model yet.

Thank you for a very detailed and well reserched explanation JimBob. If I read correctly, someone mentioned that the Bunker Hill has some airframe differences as compared to the Kepford bird.

well...
Hmmm...I have a feeling they should have given stuff to you - it seems the guys that got stuff wound up putting it on ebay. I see the new BoB figs being sold from NYC (we have no WM) and the seller is including a 21C brochure....luftpanzer wrote:Digger, I dont think he got it from the show. Because I was at 21st C booth the last day ans I try to get somthing to bring home, And they said nope.

Yes, MightyMustang is correct: "The Bunker Hill Corsair is the same as the Kepford and Boyington bird, same mold but different paint schemes." The original -1A and -1D aircraft airframes were the same. As far as I can tell, all the 21C model Corsairs come from the same mold which is basicly the -1A.

P.S. I know I keep rattling on about the Corsair, but I'm more than happy to chat as long as someone else is, too!

OK
That's Ok JimBob, that's why this forum exists to begin with. Besides, it takes our minds off the daily routine, don't you think?
Thanks for all your inputs.

MM, They're now out at WM.MightyMustang wrote:Hey digger,
I wonder where the hell the ebay seller got Ridge Runner from? Very interesting.
I guess theres light at the end of the tunnel!

Funny that a few online retailers were telling you March - I guess it hits them where it hurts when the planes are at WM first and cheaper.
