I think you are referring to the fact that the landing gear doors are not on our sample? They have been tooled and you will see the doors at Toy Fair. The only problem with the doors is if you look at the 1:1 you see the angle and engineering is not capable of replication 100% on the 1:18 scale. It does look very nice though, and you do have a lot of detail such as brake lines on the struts of the model.

Thanks for the response, Jason. I figured the door would be added. I was referring to how short the landing gear struts are. It looks like it's got a completely deflated oleo. Does the real dauntless do the same thing as the P-47 whereby the strut compresses on the way up and thus the short struts?Jason of Admiral Toys wrote:I think you are referring to the fact that the landing gear doors are not on our sample? Jason could you please clarify that?scbvideoboy wrote:The promo image at a retailer stated " an optional open or closed canopy"
does that mean there are two canopys included? Or just means they can be slid back and forth like all the other planes?

Dauntless
I love how the pre-production looks! It is fabulous!
I minor thing, but I hope that one of the modifications might include an upper cowl scoop that the -2 through -4 had. (the SBD-1 had a different style cowl scoop) The cowl with no scoop as shown on the pre-production is correct for a -5 and -6. The -2 and -3 versions were at Midway.
Regardless, I love it and already have one on preorder. Great work on a very historic aircraft!

JimBob

No offense taken - if it was not such a cool plane and I wasn't so psyched to see it done then maybe, but this one has got my name all over it.Jason of Admiral Toys wrote:Dear Digger,
Sorry if you were offended by my denial of the Skyraider in the previous post...Anyways, no offense intended.

G'day Jason
I have just noticed that on the tooling sample images of the A1 which you posted below, that there are some significant location pins on both the centreline and inboard hard-points, to me the size of these pins suggests a fairly heavy piece of plastic will be slung from here.
Three drop tanks consisting of one high-speed low drag drop tank for the centreline and two high-speed low drag fin stabilised drop tanks for the wing pylons.
Or maybe a one high-speed low drag drop tank for the centreline and two MK 84s on the wing pylons like that pictured below.

I’m becoming more and more excited with the untold prospects for this aircraft.

Now this leads me to believe the following combinations may be in consideration for these hard points:Jason of Admiral Toys wrote:1:18

I hope we get to see that particular livery, Sock It To 'Em. It was an A-1J flown by Capt. George J. Marrett with the 602nd out of Thailand. I just finished reading his book Cheating Death and it is an excellent read on the Skyraider and Combat Air Rescues in Laos and Vietnam.
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!
Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

Jason--
I am rather disappointed in the lack of interest in the Skyraider. There has hardly been a single post about it since it was announced
Just kidding... I think you have a home run here! I am looking forward to seeing more of this bird as the paint schemes (and ordinance loadouts)are announced
