Woo Hoo ! :D :D :D :D :D :D

I guessed right! I am the Jason that Jason of AT was referring to. Sorry, but I just had to gloat a little bit. I really had a bit of an advantage since I get to pick Jason of AT's brains twice a year when I see him at the local airshows. I've been bugging him about building the Skyraider for the last two years. I also have to say that Jericoeagle's post about the Skyraider jogged my memory about Jason's father being a Skyraider pilot.

The first shots look great and check out all of that ordinance. This plane is going to be spectacular! I will probably buy every repaint they do.

Very nice, Jason! I like! I am really looking forward to this one! Of course, there has yet to be an Admiral release that hasn't had me on the edge of my seat 8)

It's a beauty!!! It is cool that it has a connection to your father, too. Post some photos of him with his Skyraider sometime, if its okay.

Thanks also for posting the photos. Between getting all the versions of the SBD and this one, I need another room!!

I believe it is a AD-6 version, a great one for Vietnam-era Navy and Air Force. The AD-6 version is so close in appearance to the AD-3 and -4 that this scuplt in Korean war markings would be very cool, too (IMHO).

Interesting connection to the SBD (of which I'm sure that Jason is fully aware), is that the Skyraider was first called the Dauntless II.

Anyways, another beautiful looking model, Jason--- great work!!!

Regards,
JimBob

Jason, will the landing gear struts make it in the production?
I hope so because the detail is incredible.

another question will the ailerons be movable?
also, I love the other working features.

I know a lot of people have said they called it, but seriously, what am I supposed to make of my post from Dec 20?
digger wrote:...I still say we will see the Skyraider as well. Fits the bill of AC that saw numerous wars, would be damn cool in 1:18, and let's not forget Jason said they are doing a 1:18 piece for a museum/foundation. Months before he dropped that he was going to speak with the folks at Galveston (LSFM I presume) to discuss one of their AC. Guess what they have in their stable...
Jason of Admiral Toys wrote:Digger, when we finish the A-1 let me know. I myself would like to see it! I am trying to find where this rumor got started. I love that aircraft, but I know Admiral Toys does not have one in production at this time. Sorry, but you need to guess again. :)
Happy Holidays,

Jason

Dear Digger,

Sorry if you were offended by my denial of the Skyraider in the previous post. However, as many have pointed out, I said not yet “in production.” I know it is a game of semantics, but my hands were tied and you got my knee jerk response to your claim. And because you sounded so convincing, I thought you actually knew something we had told no one. Anyways, no offense intended.

Now for the really crazy news!!!

This is not it for 1:18!!!

You will see yet another “subject” in 1:18 at toy fair that I have never discussed on this board. Maybe we will have an abbreviated guessing game next week, but, I cannot tell you what the 1:18 model is until toy fair. You will have to wait and find out with the rest.

Furthermore, you will find a repaint of the CL-13 in beautiful Hartmann markings and the second paint scheme for the ME 262 will be present.

To answer a couple of questions regarding the Skyraider:
The wings will fold on the production version. At least I plan that they will fold. If time and difficulty become an issue, they may not fold. But they should fold. Boy, that was confusing to write; sorry you had to read it.

“Are we going to do something different with the pilots?” No, we like criticism!! Just kidding, we are trying to improve our pilots. Or we may just leave them out and allow the other guys to fill your pilot fix.

Doing Dad’s Skyraider is a strong possibility, but don’t tell him. It would be a surprise. SHHHHhhhh!

F-5? After toy fair and you will have your answer.

The landing gear struts will make it into the production model. We have already worked those out. The only problem with this aircraft is the double hinges on the wings.

Regards,
Jason

Here are the requested photos of the SBD. These photos are not current. There have been modifications since these were taken. More photos will be available soon.

I hope you like what you see thus far.

JASON!!!!, PLEASE do not let us know what the other 1:18 aircrfaft is until the Toy Show in New York. I'm sure 21st and BBi will once again have little to no new 1:18 offerings on display, so if we know what all of yours are, there will be no more suspense or fun for the show! :D

Thanks!,

Andy

Hi Jason

I live in the UK and just like to say what a breadth of fresh air it is to see something like a Skyraider being offered in 1/18th. Many thanks for this bird, I will certainly purchase this one for sure both in Navy and SEA schemes if they are offered. Just imagining one with a full weapons load of napalm and bombs. Wow..can't wait!

What else has Jason up his very accomodating sleeves I wonder.....

JoeS.

Jason -

I'm really excited about the Skyraider! It is by far my favorite prop aircraft. I do have a suggestion. Since there is such a wide variety of ordinance that was carried by this aircraft and the sheer quantity, it would be great to see optional ordinace packs sold separately.

Great work on bringing an awesome aircraft to production in 1:18! Can't wait to see what else is in the works!!

Jason you should use your fathers head for the pilot, now that would be cool. 8)

And look into using metal for the hinges on the wing fold.

Jason,

Thanks for the pictures of the Dauntless. While I'm rather luke-warm on the Skyraider (shame on me), I am really excited about this plane. I take it that the landing gear will be fixed(?) Other than that, it looks pretty dang good!

The landing gear on the Dauntless was retractable so I can't see them making them fixed. It didn't however have folding wings which is what hastened its removal from carrier service.
