I found a B-25 with a tail hook. The Navy did indeed land this thing on the USS Shangri La

Its a Navy version of the B-25 called "PBH-1"

Quote from the source....

PBH-1H 43-4700 (BuNo 35277) was modified for aircraft carrier catapult launch and arrest retrievals. The first landings and catapult takeoffs took place aboard the USS Shangri La "CV-38" on November 15, 1944. Although the experiment was successful, no further work on a carrier-based Mitchell took place since American advances in the Pacific made such an aircraft unnecessary.

Ok, this is what we have:
1. Father
2. Oil
3. Jump and Pull were your only options.
4. Hook
This theory could be way out there but here goes!!!
At first I thought of "Father" being a nickname given to type of US aircraft and then I thought maybe it was a nickname given by Russian, Japanese or German to an aircraft. But then it could refer to as the father inventor of a type of aircraft. The father of dual rotor helicopters is Frank Piasecki.
"Oil" again maybe another nickname to the aircraft?
"Jump and Pull were your only options" can be like mentioned before. Jump out of the plane or pull a glider, like the C-47, but this can also be done by a helicopter.
"Hook" could be reference to an operation such as Operation Skyhook or a CH-47 Chinook which has the nickname of "Heavy Hooker". I would guess it could be CH-47 Chinook.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CH-47_Chinook

I know this is a reach, but o well, one can dream!

Hi,

Perhaps it is a F-14 from the movie "The Final Countdown"!

father: Kirk Douglas
oil: Gulf???
Jump and pull: ... carrier Nimitz
Hook: tail hook

just a thought from me

Greetings from Germany

I don't know about you guys but I'm going to have one massive headache from this one untill Jason reveals it. I'm going to go on the line here and say my feeling is that it is a Skyraider. With a B-25 coming 2nd but only because of its size the Skyraider has a smaller wingspan which might make it more practical. The Dakota and Tomcat are just to huge I think for Admiral to take on when there are much smaller jets that are just as desirable but smaller like the A-4 Skyhawk. Plus a Skyraider would a good aircraft to put up against 21st Century's Avenger. They are both pretty massive aircraft.

It might be the F-14...

Father of the fourth generation fighters.
Oil being the root of the war (Gulf War I) in which it proved itself as a capable ground attack aircraft, aside from its air superiority role...also born out of Grumman's dissatisfaction with General Dynamics over the F-111 pickle...also from being exported only to Iran.
Jump and Pull from its characteristic launch off a carrier where it Jumps off the carrier and the pilot hopes that he pulls hard enough to keep it in the air.
And Hook from its iconic landing configuration.

Tomcat is a male cat, known as a tom or tomcat, which also can father a litter of kittens

I think I will sit back - no point in more guessing - some of these guessed will be very large aircraft to produce in 1:18

Jason did state a few of us have made the right guess.

f-14, b-25, c-47, texan, X-1, glider - were all mentioned before his post

then the clue "Hook"

Well, unfortunatly, we can cut out the C-47/DC-3,

In 1/18 it is,

42.5 in L
63.6 in W (!!!!!!!)
11.3 in H

I'd guess the B-25 would be modular enough to finagle plexi nose and solid nose variants without too much fuss. Kinda like 21C did with their Me 262.

It’s also interesting to note that the 65th Doolittle Tokyo Raiders reunion is going to be held in San Antonio Texas this April 2007.

Is not the home base of Admiral Toys somewhere in Texas…

Another possibility for the "hook" clue...

Quote from a report about the Doolittle raid...

Unfortunately, American Naval Intelligence did not know that ahead lay a line of approximately 50 Japanese radio equipped fishing boats that formed the early warning surveillance network extending seven to eight hundred miles offshore from Japan.

Hook = Japanese fishing boats acting as an early warning system.
