Thank you for the responses on the 88. We have not started production on it in 1:18, but were gauging interest in the model. We really like the artillery pieces and there are a ton of them to produce if this line was started.
Moth, smaller doesn’t always mean cheaper. This is the largest misnomer of the industry. A German 88 would not necessarily be cheaper to produce. Material cost may be less but tooling and production can cost more. There are LOTs of small parts on the 88. One small wheel to lower the barrel is just like one large wheel to move a tank. Parts are parts. They each have to be injected, painted, put on the model. Size doesn’t matter, complexity does.
That being said, I am in no position to state a cost if this thing was produced. So you will have to wait for further information… I will let you know either way in a couple of months.
On a side note:
Here is a master model of the Type 97 Shi Ki tank from Japan.
There is a lot of work to do on this one, but, it should be ready in the first half of '07.
As with all of our releases, it will have substantial metal content with minor parts being injected in ABS.
Hope you like what you see. Admiral Toys is excited about offering tanks that have never been produced before in 1:72. There are enough King Tigers, why not give the lesser known tanks a chance.
Are objective is to give the collector the opportunity to diversify their collection to include tanks that were part of history but did not receive the recognition of their counterparts.
Hope you enjoy the photos.
Regards,
Jason
