Out of curiosity, would 21C consider re-releasing the Landers P-51 (Big Beautiful Doll) in the new tooling with the correct markings?

Given these are as much collectibles as they are "toys," I'm not sure what impact that would have on the value of those already out there, but before I wander off into the project and invest several hours of hand/airbrushing and $ on paint and decals I'd rather just be able to wait and buy one.

If a new release is simply out of the question, that would be nice to know.

You are in luck - if you go back you will see TKO already mentioned the BBD scheme:

Was that the reissue or an original 1970's kit? I was looking on eBay for a vintage kit to confirm retractable gear. I had bunches of the 1/32 kits and I thought all had retractable gear. But it's been years. I remember the Monogram kit had a little gear or knob you rotated to work the gear. As the Monogram P-51 had a round dial on the underside that retracted the gear.

Bring on the Typhoon, and P-39 with opening doors for the guns and cannon :D

I am with you on the P-39. It is very streamline in appearence and has that whole coolness factor with the rear engine and front cannon. Imagine what could be done. The removable cockpit in the Zero was a novel feature. But, the removeable panel so you could see the cannon and gear box on a P-39, now, that would be killer.

Love the P-39. I have a picture of me standing in front of a Bell P-63 Kingcobra. From the front both the P-39, and P-63 are so sleek. Gota love the engine behind the pilot, and how cool it look on its tricycle landing gear. Yes the P-39 Airacobra would make an awesome model! :D

i have both the original & reissue of both kits
the F3F-3 you pulled prop out and it engaged a gear to do landing gear
the F4F-4 was cast in a terrible blue plastic in 70's now in standard gray plastic.
the Mustang was the old Phantom Mustang cast in silver plastic with all the stand stuff left out. i have 2 of Phantom Mustangs in stock plus 3 silvers in my collection

A scary thought for the USA guys, maybe this is related to 21st Century reportedly reneging on a deal with Badcat? It might mean that Walmart have bullied 21st Century into dealing exclusively with them in the USA in the future . Maybe Badcat's 'don't waste time with Wally' advertisement tipped the scales?

The biggest problem with famous germans is that mass retailers don't like to focus too much on Nazi stuff. WM will tollerate some of the generic german soldier stuff but I think a recognized high command figure would not be a good thing.

So the market becomes limited to special stores and on-line venues. Which do well but perhaps not well enough to justify tooling? Just a guess.

Although I must admit it would be cool to have in the collection.

TKO, I know I asked this before but...
Do you know anything about the Whittman Tiger?
Go or no go?
Will it be at Wal-mart? :D

Also, are there going to be S2 photos of the Mig-15?

Thanks for your time

Right now the Michael W. tiger is on hold. Not perma hold just a minor hold. I think some of the newer vehicles shown last month are going to come out first.

As for the S2 MiG-15... I sould have pics up sometime very soon! (next week or sooner)

For all of us Avenger lovers, I was told that the Avenger was sent to Wal-Mart and we should see it by the 10th of next month on their shelves.

was the post accurate information or just another product of the rumor mill?

either way, seems like the same old xd intrigue that we are all accustomed to.

I edited it myself b/c I'm not sure if I got accurate information. It wouldn't be fair to say anything without accurate information, so this is the last I'll say about this.

Sorry, guys!

aferguson,

Like I said, I will not talk about this anymore. If my post reappears, after I personally edited it, without my consent, I will not be a happy camper. :D :x

The information about the avenger's delivery came from a Wallmart Toy Manager at one of their stores.

I've noticed another online retailer has removed its 21st Century Preorder section completely. I've contacted Scully.

Didn't we hear all this before - I mean the Wal Mart manager/Avenger release thing? I totally agree with Jolley Roger that WM managers tend not to know too much about the specific products they sell. An Avenger might well be a Stuka which might well be an F-104 which might only be the large airplane that goes way up on the shelf where no one can ever get to it
