DOMAIN EXPERATION

Hey guys... as many of you know, gpxd.n3.net expired the other day. The place where I got the domain is asking for nearly 5x the amount to renew it. I'm pretty fed up with the price hike, so I don't really want to renew it. However... I am considering getting a .com or .net for the site... like gpxd.net etc. Whatever it open. Thoughts?

Britt, you may not recall but I registered
http://www.smallscalehq.com a while back just for this purpose. Seems like a good fit to me?

Let's make the switch--just be sure to announce it and set an official launch date. Considering the headaches I have had connecting today, ASAP would work for me.

I third the switch grunt1 has for us. Let's go for it like FieroDude says.

i was not able to get in at all from about noon til about midnight. When domains begin to expire you experience something like a rotating black out for a while, where some users cannot get in and others can. Eventually, if the domain is not renewed, nobody will be able to get in.
Since we have a fix already to go, thanks to Grunt1, i say we make the switch.

Yes, thanks to all of those who have worked to keep us going. I am down for making contributions to keep the domain up and hosted.

Okay guys...
This time FOR SURE the domain warbird-photos.com has been registered to me with autorenew. Turns out the transfer never went through last time, so it was the same situation. But nick and I worked on it and got it done this time, so in about a day or two the domain will be on my dreamhost account, which will lock the domain to me and autorenew it every year without me doing anything. So we should be set finally!

The lack of faith and loyalty is frankly startling.

I tried yesterday (around 3:30pm New Zealand time), it was redirected to a domain name host's site. I spazzed out for a moment.

Grunt1, if you want to point the domain as a redirector to
http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd... that would be fine with me.

I personally don't care wether we switch or not. Whatever is cheaper for you p-51!

Will do. I'll post when that's completed and working.

It's cool the way we can pool our outside talents together to take care of things like this. I am very glad to be a member of this community and I don't know what I would do with my net time if I wasn't here.

Ok guys, the site can now be accessed at:
http://www.smallscalehq.com
Britt, would it be possible to also set it up as a host header on the web server?

I don't think digger realized what you were talking about. I think he thought it was about moving to a new forum rather than going with the domain.
