Scale on this forum

I know this board is run by the graces of P51 but us sneaky 1/6 guys have entered discussion on occasion.

My question is:

Should we allow 1/6 discussion on the 1/18 forum? Or ban such discussion to "Off Topic".

OR......

Create two forums where one now exists:

#1 - 1/18 and larger aircraft (or just 1/18 aircraft)

# 2 - 1/18 and larger vehicles and figures

It seems to me that very few aircraft guys are into vehicles in a big way and 1/18 vehicle guys have spread out into 1/16 and 1/6 scales for more vehicles. Final point, the 1/32 forum is for "1/32 and smaller"

Anybody interested? Or do we just go on as before? With us considering bigger questions in our "real" lives, like now is it OK to shoot lawyers?

Nice idea TTT

I personally would like to see a 1/18th Armour-Figure section if we`re doing divisions :D

Though I see where you are coming from with the LARGER,that makes sense too.

I`m in an odd place as I only do 1/18th.Doesn`t matter on the brand as long as it appeals to me or has customizing value, all that matters is it`s 1/18th.

So I`d be happy with either the switch or we stay as we are right now.

To be honest the 1/18th section thrives with BOTH Aircraft & Armour-Fig guys filling it. Very rarely has the whole 1st page (any page) been about either JUST Aircraft or JUST Armour-figures. Almost always a good mix.

Maybe though for 1/6th,You could all ask P51 really nicely...lol

So this is down to P51 & or Majority rule :D LOL

Hey, I'll go either way P51 or majority.

I'm not packing my bags either way. I'm here until they pry my cold dead fingers from the keyboard.

I have toys in every scale, from 1/144 up to 1/1, so whatever you guys say.....

I don't want to confuse people when they come to the boards. While I have considered making a 1/6 scale forum as well, there just hasn't been enough desire for it for me to do it. Remember, the less boards you have the less time it takes people to read the forums and post. Plus, then I'd have to be moving threads that are posted in the wrong section all the time. RIght now it's nice because all 1:18 scale is in that thread, and all 1:32 and smaller is in the 1:32 thread. I modelled the forums perfectly after what GP had on the old GPXD boards.

While I'm always open to listen to any ideas you guys have, please do keep in mind that you have to think about new users who don't know much about these 'toys' when they log on here.

And side note... going to move this over to the forum threads...

I can see where you are coming from P51. Im finishing up school in another 2 weeks as a information technology specialist, and I can apreciate how much effort gos into running this board. Oh and by the way, I'll be looking for a job when I graduate, hint, hint. LOL

Is there enough traffic on this forum to support subdivisons? We don't want to to make the forums so specific that there are only a few posts per day.

Personally I'm focused mainly on 1/18 aircraft, but I do have a limited interest in 1/18 vehicles and figures for airbase diarama purposes. Hanging out on this forum has exposed me to what is out there on the vehicle side of 1/18.

My suggestion would be to have a large scale(1/6, 1/9, ect), medium scale (1/16, 1/18, ect) and the current 1/32 and smaller forums, but not subdivide them into aircraft and vehicle forums unless they become so popular that the volume of posts is impossible to keep up with.

See, the problem is that with the larger scales, I just don't believe it'd get enough posts unfortunatly. I'm like the next aircraft guy who would love to have a 1/6 P-51D Mustang... but it just seems like larger scales would not get as much press.

1/18 is in a category of it's own really. That's the prime scale at the moment with many of the toys brands out there, Star Wars, GI Joe, etc.

1/48, 1/32, and 1/72 are the only real other scales that I could see that would have a lot of talk. But 1/48 is mainly models and not collectables aside from NewRay, and 1/72 would just about be limited only to Dragon, FOV, and Gaincorp. I look at it from that traffic standpoint, and at the moment only 1/18 (1/32 is slowley getting there) is the biggest enough hit to really possibly entertain the idea of splitting it into vehicles and not.

Furthermore, the problem with splitting from vehicles and aircraft is that, let's be honest, most of the people on here are for the aircraft. I love Sherman Tanks and Willys Jeeps like anyone else, but I don't participate in the vehicle discussions much and I think that applies to many of the aircraft fans. So splitting them might make the armor section look really slow.

I don't want to discourage you guys from this good debate, but I just want to present what I've been seeing trend wise.

Hey P51 did you design your own site and build it. And if you did what program and or tools did you use. I use front page and webdrawf and also learning java script. I also have my own apache web server running.
But i still need a lot of practice to get the site to look as good as your's. Ant tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated. Also I would like to use one of your banners to link to your site.
Thanks Ed

allow me to throw in my 14.3 cents.

I started strictly armor 1:18 -
Many years ago I bought some 1:6 figures and a few smaller items but will stay within 1:18. It will be very easy to go overboard with my collection and God help me if I add more scales. ( I'm already overboard.)
What I love about this site is all scales are presented and all interest are presented.

Because of the site and what I have found I made the jump and now own two 1:18 WWII Planes.

I have no problem reading about 1:6. And If I dont want to check out a topic - well heck - I wont check it out - but that does not mean it should not be allowed.

But please follow the rules - make it easy on P51 and post in the correct place.

There is no need for division - unless your taking a math test. :D
