Changing the Doctor to a female would be a bad move. These changes to long-established characters are simple pandering to highly vocal minority special interest groups and have nothing to do with the characters/storylines themselves.

I really feel for these groups, yes I do, but why does something I've enjoyed for a long time have to be turned into something they like better - instead of giving them their own character that actually conforms to their ideals.

Shall we redo the Rocky movies with a female boxer, or Dirty Harry? Would you go see Jane Bond? I don't want to see an attractive woman get the crap beat out of her. That's a slasher film.
