Poll: Interest in adding a 1:16 and 1:6 Sections

Post by cranedriver » Fri Jan 16, 2009 3:35 pm

Just a poll to see if there would be intrest in adding 1:16 and 1:6 Scale sections. I know that a lot of 1:16 and 1:6 items end up being posted in the 1:18 forum. I think both scales have their place and popularity with collector's.

I voted for no new scales. I like seeing 1/16 and 1/6 stuff pop up here every now and then for reference but I think that both scales already have enough existing forum sites. I like the small size of our little 1/18 world and it seems like we've got enough "in-house" drama without bringing in the insanity that I've seen on some of the 1/6 sites over the years.

Well, really, how hard are sections to add? I doubt that there's any additional cost to deal with. Maybe we could have a "Larger than 1/18", "1/18", "1/32", and "Smaller than 1/32". Except that plan over looks 1/72.... hmmmm...

How about:
  • 1/18
    1/32
    1/72
    Other
That would cover the basic scales that seem to be the most popular, while leaving a space for 1/6, 1/16, 1/35, 1/48, and so on. What about something like that?

That sounds good to me. "Off topic" - I think of things not really related to collecting military toys. Can't be that hard to add 1 section. Wouldn't hurt anyone either and I am sure it would get used. 1/16th is getting as popular as 1/18 and there are quite a few people on here that already do 1/6.

Adding 1/6 is more than adding a section. It is adding a whole new breed of members, it is adding an additional forum for the mod, it is adding that many more BST posts diluting the BST forum for 1/18 and smaller, it is adding that many more dealers who want their presence known on all relevant boards...

I am not around here often anymore but I still feel strongly that this board should never embrace 1/6. There are a TON of 1/6 boards out there for those who want to frequent them.

If it was listed as 1/16th and Larger, it would alleviate alot of that as is doesn't specifically mention 1/6th. Honestly, I don't see it being a big deal...don't think 1/6 scale stuff would pick up all that much and it would be primarily the people already on this board. IDK, maybe I'm wrong :?: :?: :?:

there is already an enormous amount of 1/16 'tolerence' in the 1/18 forum. Don't see the need for a specific forum.

No need for a 1/6 forum. Interesting stuff is often mentioned in the off topic forum and even sometimes in the 1/18, which i let go if unusual/interesting enough. For more mundane 1/6 information there are dozens of good forums around....a new one here would add nothing.

........... In my opinion, the scale H.Q. are many scales, and any possible topic.
In fact ... I ask myself: What makes us a group of adults, to take up modeling. ?
Is the scale in question or the love we have for the model.
It is the pleasure we experience at work or that of our other colleagues, what makes us "dream" ... to a model of any scale.
... ¡ Ole...!...

I voted for adding a 1/6 and 1/16 section. We already have 1/16 guys and also a few 1/6 guys.

The 1/6 guys that chime in are also 1/18 guys or else why would be they even be checking us out. There are sites devoted to 1/6, no 1/6 guys will try to hijack this forum..

The pics I have posted of amazing 1/6 projects, posted in OT are just that amazing..... tell me you didn't say so. How about this latest dio by 1/6 guys.

I posted these pics because I thought they were of interest to this forum.

* Add both 1/16 & 1/6th.

Post by MG-42 » Sat Dec 05, 2009 2:04 pm

* I voted for both and I'd like to see it but whether we get it or not is of no real consequence. We probably won't though. "Oh well". I collect most all the scales here except for the microscopic  ones. :D

.......... nice 1/6 pic "btw" 3-T . 8) ... That must have been one HUGE  display on a massive scale. :D
