Anyone know of a film/movie that used a Schwimmenwagen? Ideally in the water, stationary is ok..

There is a MV group in Europe that specializes in vehicles that float. Every year they have a big meet and they have a water parade of GPA's (in US and Ruskie livery), Schwimmerwagons, DUKW's and the Ruskie copy of our GPA. They were featured in one of the History channel shows last year.

Very impressive. I was a MV collector for years, but I don't think I would ever have the nerve to go into deep water with my precious restored MV. Even with the bouy attached to all those vehicles so that you can identify the location of your sunken toy....

what are you up to, G1? :?:

I saw on the missing lynx forum that someone in the UK had restored a Valentine DD tank (like the Sherman DD swimming tank only a Valentine instead). I asked him if he ever took it in the water and he said only about 3 feet or so. He would never risk trying to float it. Glug.

There is a collector in Sweden who owns a Schwimm, a Kubel, and a Type 87 (4 wheel drive Beetle), and he actually drives them on a daily basis. The Type 87 is apparently one of less than a half dozen survivors, the rest of which are in museums - not driving around.

Oh, here's a Kubelwagen tank trainer:

Made a bet about a year ago with a guy that the first one to find a Schwimm in a movie got an FoV armor piece of some kind. It's been so long that I forgot.. Anyway, was watching Von Ryans on Netflix the other night and low and behold there's a Schwimmer! :D

It's the only time I've seen a Schwimmwagen on a movie.
