Does anyone know where I can buy cheap gun replicas?
I want it to be good enough for display, but at a reasonable price.
All of the ones I have found were at $600 or so, too much for me.

To be specific, I want an MG42

Thanks!

The link VMF provides is just AWESOME. If I was in the market, that's the baby I'd go for.

There are a few companies making dummies (dummy receiver) and all the rest are actual parts. But they are all in the $600 to $900 range for a MG-42. SGN is the best place to find them.

I have a replica M-16 and three M1911 .45's, dating back years and the .45's are so close to real you have to break them down to find out they are not real guns. The M-16 is a little on the flimsy side but looks good, especially with a 30 round mag stuck in the receiver. These were from my 1/1 parade days.

I can somewhat vouch for that seller on ebay. I bought two replica .50 Cal machine guns from him. The detail is fantastic, and they are very durable. Why can I only somewhat vouch for him? The .50 cal he sent me was cracked... so, he send me a second one for free... which was also cracked. Since I had two at that point, I didn't press the matter further and gave him good feedback for at least trying. So beware of cracks. That's not stopping me from currently bidding on his M1 replica...

Here's some shots with 1940s models with the .50 cal for a project in which I needed the .50 cals for. The detail is fantastic. Up close you can see they are resin, but from 5 feet and beyond they look real as can be. (though, I'm sure the .50 cal will be the last thing you all look at in these shots)

No wonder we hear very little from P-51 nowadays...
He is playing "Army" with "the boys" and his .50 cals MGs. 8)

Don't hesitate to contact me the next time you go and play with your new friends...

Sportsman's Guide fairly regularly has dummy guns that are much better looking than the resin guns, but at twice the price.

They have a Thompson, or a Sten gun with a solid metal receiver on all original parts and have very nice looking display pieces or to be used by reenactors.

They recently had M1928 Thompson guns that really looked good. The M1928 Tommy guns came from Russia in the last few years. During WW2 we sent tanks and armored cars to Russia as Lend Lease. With them we supplied Tommy guns as crew equipment. The Ruskies took these brand new Tommies and just stored them. They were afraid of problems supplying .45 cal ammo. So now, some smart wharehouse guy in darkest Ruskie Land finds these and sells the guns back to us as "parts guns". Our smart guys slap a dummy receiver on a set of parts and blam, you have a $600-800 dummy gun to sell..

A good dummy Ma Duece can go from anywhere from $1500 to $5000.

Dummy .30 cal Brownings are just about gone and go for around $400-600. Now that is a net display piece for your toy room.

Here's a site with display guns made from parts kits. Prices don't seem too bad, but I know nothing about these folks.

IMA has been around for quite a while. I know serveral satisfied customers. Not unreasonable prices on the average.
