Hey Guys-
Does any one have any pictures of Robbie Risner's F-86? I've checked all the profile websites I could think of, google, etc, etc with no luck! Any pics or info (nose art?) on this aircraft would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Zack

Do you have the buzz or s/n number, sometimes I've had good luck googling that plus the a/c type.

Hey chunks,
Thanks for the reply
The buzz number is FU-824. I have tried tried to google that with the a/c type- This plane seems to elude me!

Ok, from what I've found so far this has s/n 12824 with Bugs Bunny in a Sherlock Holmes hat and magnifying glass with "Looking for a Discharge" on it. does this look right? If so I'll keep at it. BTY "The 4th Fighter Wing in the Korean War" by Larry Davis, has a photo of it, it this is the right one.

Man- Those are some great links!
Yes, he is quite an amazing man. I had the privelege of talking with him in my living room when I was young (mid 1980's). My grandfather was pastor of a church here in Lawton and he came as a guest and spoke about his POW experience for the service (he is a great christian man) and had dinner at our home. He told us about the F-86 push and being shot down in the F-105 in great detail.
My Dad asked some great questions. On the other hand, I, being in 4th grade and playing "army" all the time, asked him the brilliant question - "Did you ever get killed?"

He got a good laugh out of that and smiled and said "No son, I sure didn't".
He did autograph an f-105 picture that I had and I still have to this day.
Anyway, I have always wanted to replicate one of his aircraft (f-105 or f-86) and figured my 1/18 F-86 would be the perfect candidate.

Great story, thanks much. That kinda stuff can't be lost. I haven't given up, in fact after I'd read the description of the nose art I'd realized I'd seen it somewhere. I'm still working on it.

I think this is what your looking for. And yes Risner was both an outstanding pilot and an individual. Please post some pics when you get it finished.

Mike

Zack,
Found another shot... evidently they painted the rabbit on both sides of the Sabre. The other marking is the Rocketeers unit badge.

Mike
