WW II Documentaries found at WM

Post by STUKA » Fri Dec 29, 2006 12:42 am

Tonight I noticed A $1.00 video from Digiview Entertainment containing 205 minutes of WWII footage. The DVD contains thefollowing documentaries: all under the heading "The German Front"
"Prelude to War"
"The Nazi Strike"
"The secret Life of Hitler"
"Nuremberg Trials"

The other DVD I found for $1.00 was "Victory at Sea" parts 1-6 on one disk.

This wasnt a clearance but in a section full of $1.00 movies up by the cash registers.

I found Victory at Sea 7-12 at the Mishawaka IN WM a couple weeks ago, but 1-6 was nowhere to be found. I will need to scout for it and the others! Thanks for the heads-up!

I'll have to take a look for these, thanks for the heads up. Two of the titles you mentioned, ("Prelude to War" &
"The Nazi Strike"), are part of the 1943 U.S. War Department produced series "Why We Fight", and the complete 8 part series can sometimes be found for about $10 or so at Best Buy or the WM bargain bin. The "Victory At Sea" documentary has 26 episodes in the complete series, so you might be better off just buying the "collectors set" which was available a while back in some Walmart stores in the "bargain bin" for $5.99 or $9.99 if I recall correctly, if you guys are interested I think some of my area stores still have this Victory At Sea set available, and I'll take a look next time I am in there. BTW, the Victory At Sea series is an enduring classic that should be in every WWII enthusiasts video library IMO, and can still be seen once in a while on some cable TV channels. The Richard Rogers musical score of Victory At Sea is very dramatic, and will be familiar to anyone who has ever watched the series.

Yeah, I got the complete Victory at Sea for $10 a while back. It was either at Walmart, or BrandsMart.

The Mt. Airy (Maryland) Walmart had a couple sets left in the bargain bin for $5.50 ea. This is the digitally re-mastered version from Mill Creek Entertainment and the sound/image quality is outstanding considering that the source material is 50+ year old cellulose. This is a great value at twice the price in my opinion.

I got mine tonight.

They are thicker than the rest of the crap in the bargain bin.
They are easy to spot.
