Another gruesome image of the horrors of war, a Soviet tank crewman, or what's left of him, apparently the victim of an air attack.

This is a pic of a German soldier in a trench in WWI.

I don't know, but if he was pulled out for the photo the stench must have been unimaginable The text was in French and the photo caption was brief and to the point, something like.. "Soviet tank man killed in air raid" pretty sparse, but as the saying goes "a picture is worth a thousand words" This apparently took place during the German 6th Army advance on Stalingrad, and during that time the Soviets sacrificed tens of thousands of men in an effort to slow the Germans and wear them down for the eventual Russian counterattacks which encircled and destroyed the 6th army inside the ruined city.
