This school was created in 1962 and teach the officers and NCOs the survival and commanding skills necessary in such a specialized environment.
The highly skilled troopers that work here are geniune athletes and take part to many ski competitions.
Recently 6 instructors for the école militaire de haute montagne have been sent to Nepal in order to recover 4 French alpinists lost in the himalaya.
