Small Scale Military Headquarters

I'm looking for some websites or books that have good pictures (color would help) and outlines on Soviet Tanker uniforms. Looking for a span of the different uniforms used during the war etc. Equipment and weapons would be great too.

My question is are there any 1/16th or 1/35th scale Russian Tank Crew out in the market with accurate color charts and such? I could use any scale around those, but those are the ones that came to mind first. I just need something to work from to see if I can make a figure or figures for my T-34. My searches didn't come up with much or didn't have any good pictures to use. Thank you for any help.

Thank Moth for the links. I found that second link in my searches, but couldn't get the color photos of the uniform to work. I might try again later.

As for the model figure, the colors look to be:
Early- green khaki shirt with blue pants
Late- blueish coveralls

Question would they were they winter gear (coat or whatever) inside the tank? Thanks again for the help

You might try looking up Zvezda or Tamiya 1:35 Russian Tank Crew model kits. ..... If this'll be any help. I used to have these "darn it".

One quick & easy way to do Sov tankers is just use the US WWII Tankers & add Russian ranks.

I`ve got photos in some of my Panzer/easter front books of Sov tankers who in essance look american Tankers,due to the lend lease programme.

I've seen a lot of leather coats on Ruskie tankers, both long and short coats. The big problem I would see is the helmet. I don't think they are like any existing helmets:



Except for the helmet, they can be any German tanker.

Russian crews only used allied equipment when they served with Lend Lease equipment. A T34 crewman would have the Russian uniform that Threetoughtrucks pointed out DML makes a nice 1/35 scale model set with 4 or 5 figures that could be used for a referance.

Hopefully you can read the text - it notes teh varying color of the uniforms from black, blue, gray and khaki (shown here). Hope this helps.

Is that book one os the Osprey ones? I was looking into getting me one about the Red Army from 1939-1944 I believe. Found it on amazon. If so, does it have any other good picture of Tankers in it? Thanks

and is a great little reference although spread a bit thin. The color illustrations are great but you only get the one pic & page of info for each uniform, and the small book covers a huge stretch of time and a ton of countries. If it was just WWII it would be a much more thorough resource. The only other Russian tankers are a 1968 Driver (prague) and a Colonel from 1940 in service dress.
On a side note if someone wants to see any other unis lmk and I can snap a pic.

There really was not a "standard" tanker uniform for the red army in WWII, officially there may have been, but in practice it varied considerably and was quite a hodge podge of different things depending on availability, the season, and a number of other factors. I have this book in my library and would recommend it as an excellent resource for your purposes, it has both black and white pictures and some excellent color illustrations that should be of help to you.

Website wise, the usual Google search should provide you with lots of possibilities, but it will take some time to seperate the wheat from the chaff to find what you are looking for. Good luck.
