I believe, if Nazi Germany had a cease fire for 6 moths to a year that the out come of the war would have been different. When I have talked to my great uncle about WWII he said that there where rumors of a cease-fire from the upper chain of command in late 1944, also again after FDR passed away.

After Germany surrendered he was assigned to special units that specialized in looting Germanys top secret weapons programs. He told me that the Germans where close to supersonic sustained flight, much closer then what the US or our Allies have admitted at that time.

He was a bomber pilot who flew B-17 missions once he completed his tour he was assigned as a staff officer in S-2 in late 1944.
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!
