The Blue Max, CGI enhanced...

Post by aferguson » Sun Jul 02, 2006 3:49 pm

i recently saw a version of the movie 'The Blue Max' with George Peppard on History Television but i think it had been altered with CGI effects.

I remember most of the planes in the movie being Tiger Moths painted to look like german or british planes but the planes in the movie i saw were SE-5's, Fokker D VII's and Fokker Triplanes. Both in the dogfight scenes, the strafing scenes and take off and landing scenes.

There was still the odd Tiger Moth popping up but for the most part the planes looked like the real deal. Made such a difference to the movie...very enjoyable.

I hope this will set a trend for altering other older war movies with CGI by putting in authentic looking planes, tanks, guns etc. Imagine the possibilities..
i never met an airplane i didn't like...
