Historic Air-to-Air Flight...

Hey guys! I'm pressed for time, so this will be short... but I've been going on some amazing air-to-air flights recently in preparation for the Planes of Fame Airshow this weekend (20-21).

We got our P-26A Peashooter and Seversky F3F/AT-12 Guardsman flying for the first time since the 1980s! They are the only flying of their types. The Peashooter is one of two Peashooters in the world, and the other one is in the US Air Force Museum never to fly again.

And then yesterday (18th), I went on an air-to-air flight that was a bit historic. Spanning from post World War 1 to the Korean war, we but up a nice formation consisting of fighter advancement in just 20 years! That's right, from the Peashooter to the F-86 Sabre, it was just 20 years! The aircraft are: P-26A Peashooter (Post WW1), F3F/AT-12 Guardsman (Pre-WW2), P-51D Mustang (WW2), and F-86F Sabre (Korea).

Great Pics! One of these years I hope to make the show. Hope you don't mind but I'm using the P-26 as my wallpaper right now. Thanks again

Thanks for sharing! Awesome photos!! The Peashooter is sure a fine looking aircraft! It has always been one of my favorite pre-war A/Cs, along with the Grumman F3F biplane.

I don't know about the lineage of the Seversky, but it sure resembles the later P-47. Any 'family' connection?

Thanks again :D

Man, I should of looked at this thread sooner!!! Beautiful photos! Just visited the USAF museum, so seeing the P-26 and the AT-12 in flight is awesome! Wow......

Thanks for sharing Britt. These are the best air-to-air photos I have ever seen. The span of history..... Now if they had an F-4 and an F-22 behind them, that would of been just outragious!

Republic bought out Seversky and improved on the P-35 (the fighter version of the AT-12) with the P-43 Lancer, already in development. Of course, the P-47 wasn't too far behind that!
