I'm surprised to find out the Navy never named a warship after Richard Best, who sank the carrier Akagi and possibly helped sink the Hiryu in the Battle of Midway.

The Navy names a destroyer after one of it's first nurses: the USS Lenah Sutcliffe Higby.
