A-10 safe until 2022

It's safe from men running around on the ground with nothing more than heavy machine guns or 40mm cannon. Over a modern battlefield it is expected to last 3 minutes, and that was in the early 2000's. In the 90's...5 minutes. They were made to destroy a few heavy AFV before they themselves were destroyed.
During WWII, in late 1944 and 1945, a P-47 pilot in the 163rd FS had a life expectancy of two sorties. The A-10s today in the 163rd FS would be the same.
