high speed pass on Saturday:
(Original Shot):
And work (I work at a Senior/Underclass/Dance/Sport Photography Studio) asked me to create a 'Top Gun' themed 20 foot by 10 foot backdrop for an upcoming dance with that theme. Well, I don't really have any shots of F-14s flying since 1997 (pre me going digital), so I didn't want to use those. So, I decided to use the F/A-18 Super Hornet since it is the Navy's modern fighter at the moment and is the replacement for the now retired F-14 Tomcat. So, I took that F/A-18f Super Hornet (being flown by a very cool woman might I add!) and duplicated it changing the numbers to '138'. I cleaned up the '138' Hornet to make it look slight different than the other one and also made it flying in a slightly higher angle. On the original Hornet, '133', I repainted the helmet to look more red and yellow, like a Star Wars X-Wing pilot's helmet. I also added a flashing light on the tail. Threw in a flag photo I took earlier this year when walking at the beach one day when it was windy, added vapor trails, heat haze from the engines, and even (hard to see unless you look at it person) afterburner effects... and voil: The BIGGEST print ever of my photos! I was very happy to see they were very crisp and clear! Just goes to add another notch in how awesome the Canon Rebel XT is with quality!
The Final banner (with me for scale... remember, this is a 20 foot by 10 foot backdrop!)
