Cutting the A-10 is penny wise and pound foolish. The general is correct, we have no replacement. Since close air support is so necessary with today's conflicts, the A-10 serves a true purpose. Helicopter gun ships are great but they are probably more vulnerable to ground fire or even SAMs as well as hand held anti-aircraft weaponry.
It amazes me this aircraft, which was designed to contend with Soviet armor, has proven itself again and again for close ground support. Its use could be material in the war against ISIS.

You've gotta love it. I am no expert. I would suggest none of us on this site are but we can figure it out?.... Boy, are we in trouble.
