Small Scale Military Headquarters

Im working on a 1/6 Kubelwagen and I want the top up so Im building the frame from scratch and going to use material to give it a very real look. Im doing it in winter whitewash and am curious as to the color I should use for the top. I have found color pics of them with brown tops but have read that they were also sometimes grey. I think the grey would look better but want it to be right. Any help would be great. Thanks

The brown is definitely more common, but they did appear in gray. There are also a few black tops out there. I guess it really depends on what color the vehicle itself will be; obviously if you go for a late-war look then you should go with brown.
