That's a Russian jet, the Chinese have had it for a while.

Helicopter Pilot, if you're saying that is an IL-76 you are sorely mistaken. Just a quick look will show that that aircraft dragon53 is showing is much larger.

The Chinese just announced a few hours ago that this is the Y-20, their latest and greatest transport plane.

Ok, we'll China doesn't have any AN-124s or their equivalent Chinese copy to my knowledge, so the statement, "the Chinese have had it for a while" is incorrect.

The aircraft is most certainly an attempt to create an aircraft in the same design/type/category as the C-17. The t-tail and size give that away. If they were trying to copy the AN-124/C-5 class, the aircraft would be larger than the one pictured (has the plump squatty look of a c-17 as opposed to the longer look of the AN-124 or C-5).

It kind of resembles an AN-70, just larger, fatter, and with four turbofan jet engines instead of turboprop.

Not the 124 either, it's an upgrade from a Russian turbo prop

Since gun powder and the long noodle, is there anything the Chinese have developed without having 'borrowed' it from someone else?
