Assuming facts are correct, no way this guy should be promoted...He probably still shouldn't even be in the service!

I have emailed both my Senators to appose this promotion.
Very sad this guy is STILL in the Navy.

After reading the entire article, I'm not exactly sure how is he totally 100% to blame for the incident.
His F-14 was loaded with live ordnance, which was an apparently violation of the war games. But he wasn't the one that installed those missiles, or even the person who ordered those missiles installed.
He called his carrier for advice before firing the sidewinder. The carrier gave him clearance to fire, and he did.
It's one thing if he deliberately did it on purpose, or violated direct orders not to fire, but it seems like there's plenty of blame to go around.
