Does anyone know where I can find some good pics of the North African camo used by Shermans?
Thanks.
Shermans in North Africa??
Shermans in North Africa...
You're in luck - Concord just released Steve Zaloga's newest book, "US Tank Battles in North Africa and Italy". For about 15-18 bucks it has a lot of good stuff. Zaloga is a good writer and researcher.
Otherwise the old book "Armour Camouflage and Markings in North Africa" by George Bradford is still a good reference. It was the first book to show the geometric symbols used by the units of the US 1st Armored Division, and the first one to discuss the use of local mud applied over OD to create camouflage.
For British Shermans there was a nice article in Military Modeling magazine about a year or so ago about modelling an El Alemein M4A1.
Hope these help.
