Funny I saw this tag...one time on mission...we were being covered by a fighter wing during the night...and all i could hear is a distant hum every so often as i was trying to sleep in my humvee...finally I got up and was like what the #$@* is that?...and a colonel was like that son is our cover...he was like those are a-10's hitting ground targets ahead of us...I had a new respect for those guys after that

If only A-10s performed strafing runs for birthday parties...

Is it true that the bullets fired from the Vulcan will hit the target before the sound of the gun firing is heard?

It's true the sound is heard after the gun fires, but it's not a vulcan cannon which fires 20mm. It's the 30mm Gau-8 Avenger cannon.

Actually, that's true of many guns. Handguns are largely subsonic, but just about any rifle bullet travels supersonic. My rifle can break Mach 3 with some bullets, and I don't shoot what is considered to be a "fast" cartridge.

Yet another movie myth... You'll never hear the shot that gets you, muchless have time to try to take cover...
