Small Scale Military Headquarters

Hi did you guys see the new OVER THERE show?

I would to know your comments about it.

I watched it with another couple of guys, and all of us were rivited to the screen. I think all of us are definately going to be making time for this one each week.

Overall I liked it, yes there were flaws, but it has potential. I'll watch the next two episodes for sure, after that I will be heading over there, so I won't be able to watch Over There.
I can look past the appearance of a Huey, though blatantly out of place. One technical detail I would like to mention is that during any trip outside the wire it was division policy to have a minimum of two vehicles with mounted, crew served weapons. That duece did not appear to have a gunner so that mini-convoy would have been a no-go. Plus, on any trip outside the wire, and at any time a convoy could become a target and everyone knows it. No one would have been sitting in the back bullshitting about nicknames. The bigger and badder you can make yourself look the (hopefully) less of a target you will make yourself. All of those guys in the back would have been facing out, and watching for targets of thier own.
My main grief was dialogue; The Sgt character responding to "Why do they call you Sgt. Scream?" by screaming was just lame. The main dude (Bo?) calling Sgt Scream sir twice that I recall and calling one of the female characters mam was weak too, come on havn't these guys been to basic training? He also kept asking "why do they call you [insert nickname here]?" But if he doesn't know then who is doing the nickname calling? Have these guys trained together at all or did they just find themselves in the desert together one day? Also why do they all have nicknames what is this GIjoe? I like nicknames and all, but there should have been a couple obvious ones like the characters name just shortened, for instance Gonzo for Gonzales, or Fergy for Ferguson. If there were a guy in my unit named Bo I think it would only be minutes before his permanent nickname were Boner.

Military wise it lacks realism BIG Time!!!

A cherry group of soldiers would have spent a few days, maybe a few weeks in the rear getting inprocessed in country.

Also if they are a squad element then they are way wrong!!!.....to my account there are only one Sgt. and 4 soldiers plus to "pogs"....so that is a fire team. There are also no Specialist 4 ranks soldiers to make for experienced soldiers and there are no team leaders which would also have been NCO's.

By the way the guy that carries the M203 should have been the team leader, and the guy in the series did not even shot the M203....

Way off, the convoy, the huey was not really military marked, and much more.....but i will still watch it because anything military is better than Oprah!

it's great to have feedback from guys like the two of you, that have been in combat situations. Makes me wonder why the people making these types of series and movies don't hire some ex or even current marine, soldier etc to consult with.

The little details that you guys have been talking about are what could make a series far more interesting...because you can see what it is really like 'over there', not what some director thinks it is like..
