Nice pics. Notice the tracked service vehicle parked in front of the P-47 Razorback....?? Does anybody know what this thing is called...?? The chassis looks sorta like an M5 Hi Speed Tractor, but not exactly... :?

Well, I finally figured out what the odd looking tracked beast parked in front of that P-47 is.... It's an M2 High Speed Tractor, also commonly referred to as a "Cletrac" for the Cleveland Tractor company that made em'. They were a common sight around USAAF airfields during the war, especially in England where the terrain off tarmac could get very muddy. I found a really good reference on the whole series M2 thru M8 published by Ampersand in the UK. It was a very versatile and indispensable vehicle on WWII airfields. If anyone knows who offers kits in either 1:32 or 1:72 I would really appreciate hearing about it, I know there are some resin kits of the M4 and M5 in 1:35 (and possibly 1:48 ) but there doesn't seem to be any models or kits of the M2 in any scale that I can find.. :?

Great find, Dauntless!!! Never seen any of these particular pics, and I have close to 100 books on WWII aircraft, most in black & white, but some in color.
