My wifes grandpa was in the 452nd BG during ww2. He gave me a half a dozen photos, taking by bomber crews, of B-17 during bombing missions. I like to go through the ones I can make out the tail number and see if I can find info on that particular B-17.

The one serial number I have is 7digits long. Isnt that to many? Its 2107091. The Letter on the tail is a BOXED L which represents the 452nd. Any idea how to find out the bomber by serial numbers??

This is way out of my league, but it looks like it may have been manufactured by Douglas based on what I see at the top of the page in the first link. Sorry I can't be of more help, but perhaps one of our other members can.
