in one of the books I read it explained the Germans usually ended up with russian guns - especially the submachine guns - because there was such a surplus from dead russians and a lack of german ammo. Ive also read about the soldiers throwing out boxes of badges because they wanted ammo and food - so its really cool seeing stashes of second class crosses.

That is too cool! He really should be careful though, I could just imagine getting blown up by some old WWII shell or mine..
