A MG-34 could be found in Viet Cong units early in the VN war. We had a Special Forces unit near me and we traded all kinds of stuff. I bought a captured M3A3 .45cal grease gun during one sale. A Tommie gun was also available. The same SF guy had Stens and a Schmeisser and a pair of artillery (long barrel) 9mm Lugers for sale. The Lugers were too rich for me but they were so nice. How those weapons got in the VC hands? Who knows.

In "We Were Soldier's", Mel Gibson was fighting NVA regulars. They were equipped with top shelf Ruskie and Chinese machine guns. A M-34 would not have been found with them.
