2005 Air Show Season

Post by vulgarvulture » Fri Feb 11, 2005 1:09 pm

For those who are not aware of this website, it's a good one. Check it out to see this year's airshow schedule:

http://www.airshows.org/list_events.php

For those in the mid-west, you're in for a real treat with this year's Thunder Over Michigan:

Six B-17 Flying Fortresses
Two B-24 Liberators
B-29 Superfortress
Four B-25 Mitchells

I might have to head up to Reno for this one. They're planning a formation flight of 51.....fifty-one!.....Mustangs. OH--MY--GOD:

Note: the Mustang deal is next year (did not mean to imply that it's a 2005 event)

This is just fantastic -- You don't see a heritage flight of F-4, F-16 & F-86 in formation often, that's for sure:

P-51, have you gotten word of any airshows in California hosting an F-4?

Spirit of Flight Airshow - Galveston, Texas - This Weekend!

Post by Mr. Football » Wed Apr 20, 2005 12:35 pm

The Lone Star Flight Museum on Galveston Island is an AWESOME living museum where many of the planes on display still fly!

The 15th Annual 'Spirit of Flight' Airshow is coming up this weekend (April 23rd & 24th) in Galveston. Featuring the USAF A-10 Warthog Demo Team in a heritage flight with the LSFM's own "Tarheel Hal" P-47 along with F-18s, Apaches, WW2 Warbirds, and special appearances by Flying Legends Paul Tibbets (Enola Gay), Tex Hill (Flying Tigers), Florene Watson, and Richard Cole.

There will also be a large display of combat vehicles and other historic artifacts, as well as entertainment, etc.

The World Famous Planes of Fame Museum Airshow is coming up! May 21-22 if any of you can make it. http://www.planesoffame.org We plan to have at least 5 P-47 thunderbolts (all are confirmed)... maybe more if they show up. Schedule (which was updated today) is at - http://planesoffame.org/airshow05-schedule.php

Also, I'll be seeing a heritage flight with a F-4 Phantom, P-51 Mustangs, F-16 Viper, and maybe an F-86 in October.

Speaking of heritage flights...
Back in 1997 (or perhaps it was 1998) I saw a similar such flight, commemorating the Skunkworks heritage with an F-117, B-2, and U-2 flying in formation at the Edwards AFB airshow.
