Found this at the U.S. Air Force History site, "Air Force Combat Units of WWII", this is probably the most comprehensive resource you can find anywhere on USAF units, organization, commanders, equipment, missions, etc. in WWII. A tremendous resource compiled into one document, I should warn people though, this is a massive file in excess of 100mb, I would not attempt to download this with a dialup or other slow connection, but for anyone with cable or broadband it should not be a big deal, it takes a while to download, but it's worth the wait IMO.
