That is NOT the norm....
If it is someone I haven't dealt with previously, and it's a trade, I send on the condition I get theirs first.. BUT, I tell the person upfront what my intentions are..
If it goes bad, post the results to Aferg ASAP.. :?

In a case where one trader is a newbie, and the other experienced (or at least has a feedback), I would think it appropriate that the newbie should send first, and also appropriate that that package arrives before the experianced trader ships. Trust is the perk of experience.
In the case of two experienced, and referenced traders they should ship simultaneously.
But, those are not rules. The only expectation you should have is that your trading partner adhere to the agreement made between the two of you.
I have no trade references within this community (many within some star wars communities), and I would expect to ship first, and build credibility, if I ever trade here.

If there is a bad trader report... we can start a thread on that. Trading/selling/buying is serious business on here... and as such if you have problems with someone please let everyone know.

I agree with hworth18 and don on this. If you have no feedback on the board than I would ask for them to ship first. I have done that in the past, but if that wasn't the conditions that were agreed on than I would be wondering myself.

If the person has feedback, there should be no problem. I would just wait and see, because there had been reports before in the past that were done before things were received.

And like the other said, it would be helpful to others (if a bad deal) to report it.

I think it should be noted too that posting feedback (good or bad) on the buy, sell, trade board is vital to the continued sucess of this community. My point is that it is important for people to be given the opportunity to build a good reputation. Personally, I have a number of good trades with members of this community (mostly on GP's board), but have never had positive feedback left to my credit, although I left feedback for the other party involved. I feel that it is a courtesy that should be practiced whenever a deal is closed. Don't get me wrong, I am not griping, I just think that this is something that would benefit everyone who trades within this community :D !

P51: is there any way of building in a link for each registered member which would take the viewer to their trading feedback? In other words you can click on a little icon of a individual and any feedback reports that have been written by other members are viewable.

In time the 'good trader' thread will get so big that it is difficult to scan it all, looking for feedback on a particular individual. We're going to need to come up with a better system.

aferguson and USCGSARdog,
I agree with both of you on the feedback issue.
I must admit that I try to created feedback for each deal I do on the board, but don't always take the time to do it.

We do need a better way of looking up someone's feedback. I like aferguson's ideal of a link to feedback for that member.

To go with the number of posts a member does that increases their rank. We don't we have a medal system (good conduct, etc) to corespond with how a member trades (good or bad) example:

Razor17019
38 posts
Specialist
10 trades [Good Conduct] * (link to trade comments)

Something like that. A bad trade would reduce the number of good trades by one and possibly take that good conduct medal away.

I am sure one of you guys with the actual military experience could make a list of "medals" for this.

I shall look into that. I have a lot of projects (add-ons, mods, themes) scheduled for this forum during the Winter Break abd will add that to the list with high priority.

We could do it e-bay style... with the number of feedbacks and a % out of 100%... lower % being there's negative feedback. I haven't looked into it yet... but I'll check it out and get a feel for what I can do.

Okay, here's what I've found. There is nothing out there for this type of thing :-P I did some extensive searchs, and all I could find are 'User Ratings' which is a 1-10 based scale. But we'd want more of the details like Who is giving the feedback, specific commented feedback, Negative or positive feedback, etc. Soooooooooo... it looks like I'm going to have to make it myself. I'm a php coder, so it shouldn't be all that hard for me. It will take some time though. What I'll be doing is adding it to another board of mine that is not in use anymore... and I'll test it out there seeing how well it works (I have an idea in mind... and the way to code it). It'll take two weeks or so to get it operational and all the bugs worked out, but hopefully you all will have it before Christmas. Once I'm able to sue it successfully over on the other boards... then I'll move it over here. During that time I will have to close down the boards for a few hours as I impliment it. During that time I will also add a few other mods... like 'global annoucement', Strikethrough for locked topics, Image resizers (if the image is too big on the post and throws off the alignment, it'll resize the image automatically to fit), some Administration items, etc.
