Local B.S.T. Swap Meets
Hello to all that are a reasonable distance from Cincinnati, OH. I don't know how many Forum Members or guest users are within this geographical area but I was wondering if there would be any interest in a get together or swap meet as we call it in another hobby I have. We B.S.T., show and tell, have great discussions and share ideas and usually have some great food. Seems like any "shows" related to the items of interest in this Forum are few and far between with an emphasis on far. Any thoughts?

That would be a great idea, I just don't know if there are enough of us in a certain region to make it work.
It would be pretty cool to get together and swap models and put a face with a name.

Know anyone near Calgary? I would love to do this with some locals, but my neck of the woods seems more into oil and the stampede than little dollies with guns.

Yes...this is a good idea. I believe in the past it was attempted, I think there was even a thread on it(?) but not sure they ever happened.. Several of us live in Illinois. I'd be up for it.

Re: Local B.S.T. Swap Meets
Heres a idea, what if we plan a meeting far in advance, say in a place that most members could are would be willing to come to, maybe we could get some of us together, maybe bring things to trade or just meet the people that have the same interests, my thought is if we plan this far ahead maybe it would work, just a idea.

Re: Local B.S.T. Swap Meets
It looks like we have members from Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana.
Anyone else out there in this area?
It looks Indiana would be the point closest to all of us.
Anyone in Indiana have a place we could meet?
House, park, war memorial?
You can pm me with your thoughts on this or we can use this thread.
Let me know what you guys think.

That would be a cool place. The LST actually moves and goes on "missions" occasionally so it would be worth checking to make sure she is in home port when picking a date.
In the old times for meet ups, we would also share intel about the stock at the walmarts, targets and TRUs on the various inbound routes. Miss those days..

But to make this work, I think we need to know exactly who is going to find a centrally located place to meet.
Re: Local B.S.T. Swap Meets
Not to complicate things, but heres another place to visit, its a small private museum, but this guy has buildings just stuffed with armor and they are super friendly and love to talk about the collection.
We went last summer and had a great time.

Hell...maybe we ought to make it a B/S/T swap meet/tour of Indiana military museums LOL That one looks cool too.

I have been to Ropkey's and it is great. They have some kind of a lodge next door, maybe a home.

Re: Local B.S.T. Swap Meets
That lodge is their home, and it is very nice, when we were there last year they were getting ready to host a military convention, I don't remember what organization, but Mr. Ropkeys wife was telling us they were going to have a schwimmwagen there and actually run it in their lake behind the house, I hated to miss that.

Thanks to all for your input. It appears that the users of this Forum are too few or too far between to do much locally. I had hoped the topic might bring some local "guest" users out of the closet and sign up for the Forum to make some local contacts. If you are a guest user, why not sign up?

Don't close the door on this idea just yet! Some of us don't check in every day.
