Nice collection, but you probably need to read the buy, sell and trade rules.

Hi guys,

I know our friend Sigwald is not yet able to B/S/T here but I took the opportunity to deal with him as his collection was very tempting, especialy the 5 21st Century Sherman pack.

And I have been lucky to meet a great person. The deal has been as smooth as it can be. Very good communication, a realy friendly guy and he even offered me a 21st Century Jeep as a bonus. All 5 Sherman come complete with figures.

Also, he carefuly packed them and shipped very quickly. He's a man of his words.

So I am happy to be his first B/S/T experience here. Thank you very much Kyle ! ! !

Not to be a party pooper but I had to wait 6 months even though I have been well known in the Hobby for 10 years. I was an admin on the old 1/6th Warrior Forum, Co-founder of the OSW, and original member of the 16th Division, and Sixth Army Group. Rules are rules right.

I decide to trade with him off the board. I let my comment so everyone around will know he's a great guy to deal with after his 6 month period.

Not sure about your post as I clearly stated he wasn't able to B/S/T. Maybe there's a rule that say you cannot trade off the board with a new member. If so point it to me please.

* Trading off the board ?

* Trading "off the board" is @ your own risk and I'm sure the administrator advises against this type of trading , however there are exceptions , such as "a deal too good to pass up".

........... I myself have traded "off the board" , although risky , but w/ great success. ... * My 2-Ā¢ents !

That's some useful info, so all a new member has to do is come on board ...post his for sale list and we can still buy from him as long as we pm him and get a e-mail address out side of the form, Cool :D

It would be like some new member PMing me to post what he has for sale and me posting it for him. Not really against the rules but most of us had to wait our six months and not bypass the rules.

Hi Gents. My sincere apologies for breaching the forum protocol and I'm sorry that my post has started a minor kerfuffle.
I remembered aferguson and a few others from the groundpounder XD forum days and my intent was simply to give fellow collectors first shot at my 1/18th collection prior to posting it on ebay
Chet, I remember your posts fondly from my first foray into the 1/6th world on the Sixth Division forum.
Anyway I fully understand your need for rules out of concern for fraud and thievery out on the wide web and as I've stated, I don't wish to continue to break your rules. Since my trade with Phil I have received a few more PM's about other 1/18th pieces which I plan to respond to but I will honor any board decision on how I should continue.
Lastly, I'd like to thank Phil for his trust and the great commo concerning our transaction that provided my sherman platoon with a new home in Belgium! It was a pleasure doing business with you buddy and I wish you the best of luck.

best regards,

Kyle Madden

perhaps that rule should be ammended to be a useful bit of advice- make your own decision. Just require payment first or trust em outright if your good with first impressions. If a deal goes sour (after all efforts to contact) - people have wrecks, cancer, hopey changey fits, etc. were all here to get more stuff or to sell what we have at some point. I think the jerry napiers of this world, or their momma's basement are few and far between-

A rule is a rule. Newbees to this board, no matter whether they have a history here, or know guys here, should have their post in BST deleted and not left to be read.

What is good for one new guy is good for all new guys. Either that or change the rules.

Fair is fair.

the rule was made with the intention of preventing fraud, like has happened in the past on this board and gp's board. So far, it has been quite successful.

But it's pretty hard to stop people from doing it 'off the board'...although that doesnt make a lot of sense since the first contact was from the board. Anyway, everyone knows the rules. If you decide to trade with someone who is less than 6 months and get burned.....don't come crying to me about it.

We're all adults here and accountable for our own actions. The rule is merely a guideline anyway....not terribly enforcable, other than with deleting offending posts. But if someone contacts a new member for a trade, little can be done to prevent it.

If we find out we could shun him i guess. Should we shun Phil?

Rule = guideline? Think a can of worms has just opened here.

I respected and followed the rules on this, waited 6 months, I thought everyone else was on the same playing field and did not even consider to break or circumvent the rule.

When plasticboy came on board recently with his custom jeep troops, many were asking to buy them and no one mentioned a peep on the b/s/t rule.

I thought fine, for the good of the hobby and the members here to get some fantastic stuff, I'll not be the party pooper and cry foul.

Other people might see this and think that if you got the skills and can offer something very good to the board here, the rule need not apply.

I think a clarification on this is needed. Maybe a poll on whether to amend the rules? Or has this been set on stone already?

If it was not easily enforceable before, now that the cat is out of the bag...

Sorry for the rant

I don't think we should shun Phil or anyone else for that matter for this type of decision. I had to wait 6 months to BST like others (most, some others)???,
but I truly don't give a rats arse if someone else does or does not. The reason this might not have been an issue in past years was the easy availablity of new items at walmarts, targets, tru, etc. Aferg is not my team leader/manager- if I do something stupid, I will not run to him for justice or compensation. I suppose a posted angry bad trader notification would be sufficient to warn others-it's been done before, but if a fellow trader has a chance to get something he really wants and knows he might get a box of used condoms or fake viagra in the mail, then so be it.

* Trading off the board ?

............ I just want to make something clear here. ... Although admitting I've had success before doesn't and in no way , means , I'm promoting this kind of trading practice.

* Like I said before , "you do this type of trading @ your own risk". ... not exactly recommending it.

............ and I would bet that other Forum members here have tried this practice as well , w/o admitting it of course but that's "here nor there". @ least Phil was honest enough to let everybody know what he did so as to not cheat so to speak , and then I decided to chime in.

........ now , this has stirred the pot. So where do we go from here ? ...........

well it's a guideline for established members in that it's not terribly enforceable is it? Members arent' going to be banned for not following it (except for new members but i'm speaking of the established members). So if they go ahead and trade, what can be done about it?

Shun.

Ban (not an option).

Name calling.

That's about it. New members are not allowed to trade and will have their posts deleted; repeated offenses will result in banning. But for established members it's merely a guideline.....and if you get burned, it's your own fault.

aferguson pretty well sums it up, if you do make a deal and it goes sour you should'nt come on the board and complain.

Edit: Thats part of why I brought up the Etiquette post and even dealing with members that can b/s/t.

But you enforced it with me and like the poster I have a well known background on these forums ..... Kinda sounds like we pick and choose

Look I want to be perfectly clear here that this isnt about Sigwald but it is about the rules. I remember about 2 months into being a member here I posted a WTB thread and it was closed within a day and was told rules are rules. Now we are being told the rules here arent terriably enforced. Well they were for me and others I have seen here throughout the time Ive been here. It just doesnt sound fair to me that one person can and others cant. Like I daid I ran a board for years and I can tell you we have have bad traders that were members for a long time and bas traders that were members for only a few months so time on board really means little other than showing you are here for the long run and not a troll. Sig it isnt you but this stinks to high heaven.

I don't think any rules here were broken. Sig made a BST post, Ram reminded him of the rules, and exether sent a PM.
John, you said that you made a WTB post only 2 months of being here and it was shut down in one day. It's too bad that exether didn't have what you wanted as he, or someone like him, might have sent you a PM.
People will always post here before they read the rules.
The only thing that I could agree with John here is that this post wasn't locked in one day, or at least after ram posted about the rules.
