Should everything listed for sale here carry a price?

This does not relate to for trades only and ebay ads. It would apply to "What is my stuff worth?" type of ads.

Yes, even I’m guilty of the “make offer” or “best offer” sales technique. Almost everyone knows what price they would be comfortable selling an item at. They just don’t want to scare folks off with it.

Yes, list what you want for an item. The members here will respond if they like the price. If no takers, then move on to your next sales site.

All ads should have a selling price. I am sure the seller knows the absolute minimum selling price and I do not have time to play guessing game.

If there are diecast models that I want and price is within a “ballpark figure,” I usually make an offer with maximum price I am willing to pay. Since I do not low-ball and insult the sellers, they usually accept. The seller is happy and I am happy, a win-win situation. If they do not accept my (in my opinion) a reasonable offer, I move on. I do not have time to try to convince them why the price is unreasonable.

What about wtb ads? Should prices willing to be paid be required? Tough to tell people how they should post. I bought a nice lot of stuff recently by making an offer. This isn't a store where everything must have price. As someone said, you don't like the listing, move on.

I don’t think this thread was created with the intent to change the BST policy here. With that in mind people will continue to list things the way they think is best. From this buyers perspective it’s a pain doing offers because you want to get an item for the best possible price while not insulting the seller. WTB ads are different but if you are on a budget then I guess you could state your maximum price ahead of time. For the most part I think people prefer to see a price. That way they can make an educated offer. I for one pass on make offer postings even if it’s something I must have. To me it’s a waste of time.

You know a lot of other sites make things like price and location of seller mandatory for anyone selling. I belong to numerous automobile forums and all are like that. One site actually has a standardized template that you must follow.

Well, Digger, you're right, unpriced WTB's can be annoying like an unpriced WTS listing.

The difference is that most members are interested in trading with a willing seller. Which is why unpriced WTB's are more tolerated. However, on busier forums, all WTB's are separated from sale listings since they distract from the real interest of the members.

Yes, always post a price and if it seems there is not much interest at your price, then lower it to a price you are comfortable with.

The best ones are where the price and shipping have been figured in, I have found that most members here are fair on both price and shipping.
